He'd be better off commuting from the complexes in River Ridge.

Exactly the ones I was talking about, too. It's not a terrible commute with Earhart Expressway.

I have a couple guy friends who live in the campus apartments. They aren't anything special, but they are really convenient. I think they run $550 a month or something. I'm not sure if there is a wait list or what, though.

His best bet is find someone in his new class looking for a roommate and get a two bedroom Uptown, MidCity, Lakeview etc. I would not want to drive back to River Ridge after going out at night.

That is another good idea, and buy a bike. Getting around the city on bike is awesome.

Lakeview is a great spot for med students. Head right up Canal with no traffic every day and be there in 10 minutes. Also, it is very quiet for them which they need.

Tell him to:
1) do camp tiger and talk to the outgoing 1st years
2) join his class's facebook group and wait for the 4th years to start offering up their old places before they move out for residency
Lots of people live in The Saulet. There's a couple of complexes on Tulane that aren't bad buildings. There's one on Poydras and Broad that I don't know the name of either. I know a few girls that have lived by themselves in buildings around there and never had any real problems. A buddy of mine lived in a building on Tulane between 10 and Broad and once had someone run into the elevator with him yelling about how someone had just gotten shot on the street and she was running inside to get away. That's probably the only actual incident I've ever heard of, but most of my friends who lived in the area spent a lot of time at school, coffee shops outside the area, and their rooms in their building. They didn't spend all that much time out a and about on Tulane or the like. One did ride her bike at night recently and mention that she felt very unsafe doing so.

Apartments near LSU medical in New Orleans

Plenty of apartments and duplexes in that corridor all for much less than $1k a month. He can start the Gentrification movement in those neighborhoods for us too!

At least the first semester in the dorm. With so much time you spend in the gross anatomy lab you don't waste time on commuting. Lithette #2 did this and honored gross anatomy. <not a subtle bit of boosting>
