Anyone worked for Amazon?

My company just shut down after the unexpected passing of my friend and owner.
Basically it was a sweetheart deal for me due to my condition, work remotely and as long as work got done I wasnt expected to keep office hours.
My CV is all over the place due to me mostly gigging as a freelance writer or analyst before this job (not to mention extended periods outside the country).
I'm not getting many call backs.
Amazon just opened up a distribution center in Bessemer and are hiring 1,500 people.
I honestly don't care if I'm moving boxes in a warehouse. Ive got two months of savings left and need something, but Amazon's promise to cover 95% of continuing ed costs and apparent advancement path within the company intrigue me.
Just looking for first hand or second hand accounts working for the company.

Amazon sounds better than the other option.

No doubt but ive heard they've changed up since all those reports came out a few years back, and I ain't too proud to turn my nose up at $17/hr with full health and matching 401k up to 6%.
I know I fricked myself having fun and traveling for 20 years rather than settling into a career path, but what's done is done.
Needs must.

Amazon employees in the warehouse are scum of the Earth.
Hope this info finds you well

LOL. You're thinking about a job moving boxes. You don't have a CV

Warehouse positions here are all part time, no insurance or anything like that.

Oh I have a CV. It's just everywhere and shows no real path. Freelance writer, real estate analyst, marketing, social media and SEO coordinator, bartender, tour guide, etc.
A bunch of random shite. I jumped around and just did shite to pay the bills in whatever country I happened to be in at the time.
I still get 1k a month just doing BPOs for a bank. I still buy returns from Amazon and resell them. Websites still pay me $300-$500 per article if I've got a good pitch, but that's hit or miss.
I hustle. But yeah, I've aged out of being the ideal entry level candidate for most companies. And I don't have the on paper qualifications for a mid level role.
I want something steady. I want a path forward. Before this year, I didn't really care.
Like I said in the OP, just looking for first or second hand experiences working for the company.

Macy's Manger training program could be right for you.

If you’re looking at amazon also check out the milos plant/warehouse.

Those reports are bullshite.
And I have personally seen an entry level associate work his way up to a regional ops manager, that’s an L8 role pulling in 400k+ a year. That’s obviously a super rare case. But it is common for tier 1 associates to move up to process assistants then eventually to Area Managers. Those roles are salaried and pay pretty well.
Delivery driver is another option but there’s really no way to move up in that role

My brother in law does part time delivery out of the Grand Bay/Mobile distribution center and he likes it well enough.

From what I learned on here about truckers,
You might need to look into that path. You can travel, have down time to pursue your other gigs... and evidently make a good living.
