Get the NOCO lithium booster. Will work on V8 or small Diesel. I used it to jump off my 50HP Kubota tractor with no issues. Since it's Lithium it will keep a charge for a while

This is why Geico uses in their road side assistance. (Or whoever has the contract). Works great. I’ve been meaning to get one myself.

Do not get a Duralast from Autozone. The jump boxes are trash.

Try to find one with a 12 v outlet (like a car's cig lighter) and a USB charging port. Both are very convenient.

A jump box and tire inflation device in each car is my recommendation.

I've used the air compressor more.

The weirdest "jumps" are trying to jump a 6 volt car with positive ground (Model A's, vintage tractors, etc.). The positive terminal grounds to the car while the "hot" terminal connects to the negative post on the batter. My chargers will automatically adjust. I'm always been a little nervous about jump starting them from another 6v car, so I pull the batteries and charge them rather than jump.

It is odd to lift up the floorboard and see the bare metal ground line connected to the positive terminal on the battery.

I second checking out halo.

I've also jumped other people with it and they look at my like I'm crazy. No way that little thing works. Then I have them up and running in seconds. No need to maneuver another car for the jump.

Which can be a pain in the city with parallel parking and narrow streets.

I splurged for $40 on the GOOLOO GP 80 800A Convenient little thing works well.

Sis got one too after having to call AAA for jump starts a couple times. She loves hers.

+air compressor. stored in my car(s).
i don’t like to rely on other people if i don’t have to.
is a huge convenience when you finally need it.

eta: they’re so cheap. it didn’t matter much to me what brand per se. i just looked up ratings and reviews. read some and bought one.

Get one with more power than rated for your vehicle. For about 100 bucks you can get one that basically can start an 18 wheeler, jump 18 cars at a Woodstock type concert weekend...

Plus, your power goes out, you can hook up a lamp, charge your phone, ect.

Don't need it much, but when you do, it's game changer.

Leave mine in the car. I got the Stanley pictured on page 1. I charge it about once every 4 months, or before a big trip.

One of the best buys you'll ever make. Get one for the significant other, for sure.

I have the Smarttech from Amazon. It has a couple of outlets 12V and 120V, air compressor, usb charger. I carry it with me on my boat just in case. Have had to use it a couple times from when the boat sat for a couple of months at the marina and batteries were dead AF.

I'm pretty satisfied with it.

With my auto insurance, I get Road Hazard coverage for less than $2/month. I've used it several times and it works well.

Another vote for the Noco, used it multiple times. Set up an alert on CamelCamelCamel, it often goes on sale for less than $70.

They have stopped making manual battery chargers. That pisses me off.

It’s been my experience that the multituse items like the fatmax aren’t durable. The air compressor motor will overheat and the battery won’t hold enough charge to jump a dead battery.
