It’s 45 minutes each way. Except when they close the causeway, then you’re fricked.

Where are you going to in NO on the ride home? Sometimes traffic going into the city in the afternoon is poo.

ETA and by sometimes I mean most days

I did New Orleans to Hammond for about two years. It was about 120 miles a day round trip. I'd imagine only having to go to Covington is much easier, depending on where you are going in Covington. Traffic wasn't terrible tbh. The worst part was paying for gas & car maintenance. Traving from Uptown isn't the worst, but definitely isn't as good as traveling from Metairie obviously.

You won't like that last bit of your commute most likely, but if you're compensated well enough I'm sure you'll survive.

I commute the "normal" way across the bridge, but I go in early and avoid most of the traffic both ways.

I’ve done it.

It’s fairly easy, aside from the time wasted.

Everyone is always going the other way.

Just remember, you’re wasting 90 minutes a day on a commute, plus gas and tolls.

Then after crossing the lake you'd have to cross the entire city to get back Uptown - no thanks

Not worth it. Covington is the worst and its full. Try Baton Rouge or Slidell.

Commuting is still a thing in today’s hybrid & remote work from home setup?

What is early for the causeway? Something like leaving at 5:30/6, heading back by 3/4pm?

If you leave at 5:30-6am you'll have very little traffic. That's what time I was usually leaving. Heading back at 3 should be good as well. Leaving at 4-5pm and you a are more likely to hit traffic on the way home once you get off the Causeway.

I leave my house around 5:30ish and am back across the bridge to pick my son up at 4. My commute time is around 45 minutes door to door to get from my house to the office deep downtown, and 40ish minutes to get from my office to my son's school in the afternoon.

Before I switched my work schedule, my commute was more like an hour in the morning and a little over an hour in the afternoons. Being "early" helps a lot

Easy peasy minus the line of cars stacked up almost to Vets at the light to cross West Napoleon

There is no world where Covington to uptown in the afternoon is a 45 minute commute, at least no without a helicopter.

Thats a long drive in reverse. Some days I have trouble with just going forward. Talk about a sore neck..
