They are great knives. They are stamped/not forged and they rely primarily on a proprietary serrated edge, but they are extremely well made stamped, serrated knives.

I don't like the business model because it gets college age kids to push the knives on their friends and family.

The knives are probably a little overpiced, but I've been happy with the quality.

+1

And the lifetime warranty is pretty nice.

It was awkward. This dude who can't be any older than 25 who is asking generic questions to make it seem like he's feeling you out. I felt bad for the females.

My aunt bought a bunch of Cutco and I ended up with it after she died. Very nice stuff actually. I've looked at adding 4 steak knives because I really like them. But the price is a bit higher than I'm willing to go. One of the steak knives lost part of the wooden handle and they replaced it no questions asked so the lifetime guarantee is something they do honor.

If the knives are so great, why do they prey on teens to sell them?

Good knives.

Not really a scam, just a tough way to make a living.

They actually have a lifetime guarantee and will replace them no matter when you purchased them...

They are the best STAMPED knives you can buy and do a very good job holding a sharp edge. A good forged knife is better IF properly maintained IMO.

Probably about 30 years old. The replacement has a plastic handle which I don't care for as much but it's sharper than the older ones which are pretty sharp themselves.

BTW a used set of 8 goes for around $200 on eBay.

I wanted to buy 8 cutco steak knives 2 months ago from a rep until he told me it would cost $750.

They'll last 20 years though.

But yeah that's a lot

I knew a kid in HS that made several thousand dollars selling these to friends' parents. That's A LOT of cheese to a HS kid.

I hear you on the sales scam but I got a set as a gift and they are pretty good knives.

Because no one else wants the job?

I'm sure they'd get less of a profit if they put them in retail stores.

When I was a kid my folks bought the cadillac set from my cousin who was trying to find his niche after college and selling Cutco. Damn fine knives and I believe they still have and use them.

costco has cutco on display once in a while

I still need to send my shears in for replacements...from the 80's

This is pretty spot on. My and my SO's whole family have the kitchen sets, hunting knives, etc.

At least the knives are great quality.
