Anyone order snow chains on Amazon?

Figure it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them stuffed away somewhere for that once or twice a year when they can be used.

Unless you live in Alaska, Canada or a state contiguous to the Canadian border, you don't need snow chains.

I had a 2 wheel drive pickup in Northeastern Pa in college. I owned snow chains. Used them 3 times in 5 years. Never to go anywhere, just to get home if a storm hit while i was in class or at work.
If it was bad enough for chains you really shouldnt be on the road.
Also driving with chains on sucks. You get beat to death. Like hitting a small speed bump every quarter turn of the tire.

I’m not sure if you realize that you can only drive 30mph or less on snow/ice chains. And if your in LA you’ll never use them.

Unless you have a truck or heavy SUV, just get the snow cables instead of chains. They’re cheaper and work just as well.

Just buy studded tires. That's all you'll ever need. You don't need those in the South though

Neither have I but I still have a set because it's a requirement to go over the mountain passes during the winter.

Yea, most of our roads are low elevation. It's that way in most f the State. Mountains are undeveloped

Couple of passes near Haines and Skagway and Atigun Pass on the haul road but that's about it. Locally only school buses use chains.

They'd be useful for a lot of folks here this winter. Weather won't make up it's mind. Keep reading about icy accidents and several deaths recently.
Be better for all if it just dumped snow.
I had studs on my first car but haven't since. Just AWD or 4WD and common sense.

We've gotten a lot of freeze thaw cycles. Usually at least have packed ice on the road, not this winter. It's been melted away in most places. Supposed to have heavy snow tonight though.

Winter tires. Or tires with studs.
Also some jurisdictions explicitly outlaw chains on tires as they destroy pavement as do stud tires.
