Actually started enbrel last Wednesday I could tell a difference the next day. That stuff surprised the hell out of me with how well it worked.

Why is it called a 'biologic' and not a pill?

I don't know why it is called "biologic", but it comes as an injectable and not in pill form...

'Biologic' sounds like a fancy name just to jack up the price,

believe me, nothing in the name could justify the cost of those injections...it really is unbelievable how much they cost...

Agreed. I'm thankful for really good insurance...only $5 copay for 2 injections per month

Ehhhh....only a 63 fold risk of infection, greater risk of lymphoma, a black box warning, and a host of side effects not detected in clinical trials.......other than that! they're very safe.

Basically like injecting cancer in your body...I've been on several
Biologics (immune suppressant medications) - they suck and are super expensive if you don't have insurance worth a shite.

Yeah I understand the risks...but I'd rather accept those risks rather than suffer with Crohn's disease flare ups every 3 months.
Humira has changed my life for the better.

granted, they do carry some risks by their very nature....however, the conditions that they are used to treat carry a good amount of risk as well. It is really a matter of risk vs benefit they provide...for some, it makes absolute sense to use them....

I know 2 people.

My boss took it for a few short months before he found out he developed stage 3 lymphoma. He's on his last leg of chemo.

A friend is currently taking it for Crohn's disease. Told him he needed to keep an eye on it.

I'd highly recommend avoiding it.
