A guy I work with has issues with mice eating holes in his pex lines. This is not unheard of.
ETA: NVM, saw your last post. That sucks!

Big time. That's always the first thing I look for if someone complains of a roof leak.

With all that being said... Im getting pex installed in my house thats being built. Contractor started forming up today.

Has he tried professional extermination instead of just rat poison?

I'd use PEX in a heartbeat. Noting wrong with it IMO.
Good luck on your project.

Looks like the overall views of DSLD are solid by you guys who know ppl that work for them. Like I said earlier, I haven't had any issues in my house but I've only been there for 3 years. I plan on staying in the next one 15+ and hope a DSLD house will hold up. DR Horton will never cross my mind

Dr Horton/ dsld are, terrible builders. i know this from experience of seeing many of his houses being built. Every single one has major problems, and he is a prime example of a lowest bidder builder.

I definitely agree.
They took a field that was ripe for quality control and management and used sound principles to turn out an excellent, consistent, product.
I've seen much worse at that price point.

I'm telling you, I would strongly advise you looking for a different builder/contractor.

It, like copper, has it's pros and cons but if installed correctly you won't have any issues with it and unlike copper if you have a leak at least you won't have to bust up your slab to fix it.
True....it should fall nicely from your ceiling after it bursts in your attic and wets the ceiling drywall to the point of failure.

Every single one has major problems,
quote:Dude I live in a DSLD house for 3 years now...no problems AT ALL. Nothing. Not even small stuff during the 3, 6, 8, and 12 month warranty check. What I don't know is what it will be like after 10-15 years but many in this thread have solidified my initial opinion/experience that DSLD builds a solid home

I like a location of a new community they are developing off of I12 in Madisonville/Covington with much larger/nicer homes $250K+.
Pine Creek or Del Sol?

Sheetrock is a way easier fix than concrete

Building a spec home now. I'm deciding whether to use pex or not.

Buying a spec when it's finished or building a spec to sell?
If it's the latter I have no idea why you would pay more for copper.

When I was looking to move I would've bought a DSLD home, I told my realtor that if he showed me a Horton he would just be wasting both of our time.
Posted on 8/30/14 at 5:18 pm to TigerTatorTots
How is that throwing my credibility out of the window?
EVERY single one I've seen built from start to finish has had major problems, with 5 of them not passing initial inspection. 2 other ones are dealing with mold problems.
I'm just trying to do a buyer a favor. I don't have to live in one, and won't ever have to spend money on all kinds of bullshite that I shouldn't have to. Don't go cheap initially and it will work out in the long run.
