My kids are too old to be taken, the oldest will be 20 in a few days and #2 turns 18 soon

I almost wanted a kitty or two but I better not

Put up some signs in your neighborhood advertising a yard sale. On the signs, write “kittens for sale.” Put some crap in your yard to make it look like a legit yard sale. Place kittens in cardboard box with sign stating, “$15 per kitten.” You’re going to get some cat ladies looking for a fifth cat. Hopefully, you’ll get some cat advocate so outraged by you selling kittens in that manner that they’ll seize every single kitten.

Go on petfinder.com and search for kittens within a 25 or 50 mile radius from wherever you are. Make a list of all the rescue groups that are currently taking care of those kittens... Then contact those rescue groups. Have cute pics of the fuzzballs at the ready. At the very least you should get some direction.

The thing is, they usually latch onto one person, and anyone who's never owned a cat thinks they are assholes because they are hesitant to react to strangers.

100% accurate. Cats aren't slutty like dogs are. They want to be exclusive.

Me and my cat are as close as anyone else with their dogs. Non cat owners will never understand that.

There is a growing glut of unwanted cats and dogs. The rising prevalence of "no-kill" shelters are now full and have been turning away new strays. Well intentioned but has unfortunate consequences.
Animals that would've been dropped off at shelters are now being dropped off at dumpsters and country roads. Dogs/cats that unfortunately aren't desired for one reason or another are taking the place of a desirable pet that is roaming the ditches looking for roadkill to eat.
Eventually some people are going to have to make some difficult grown-up decisions on what to do with all the strays both in and out of the shelters.

OP, if you can't find anyone to take them and can't keep them, for god-sakes don't dump them somewhere for someone else to deal with or slowly starve along side a road. Dispatch them with a bullet to the head or hit them in the head with a bat/pipe. Not pleasant at all but, imo, it is the responsible thing to do.

have you tried giving an animal to a rescue lately? ( at least in the south where spay/neutering isn't a priority)

yeah I'll get right on that.

My info comes from a close family member who spends her retired days volunteering for organizations that care for and ship stray cats and dogs from the south to Texas, Illinois and Pennsylvania. And btw, she would NOT approve of my solution when all else fails.

This is so true.

If you do not like cats and want to stay that way I advise to never get one. They WILL change your mind. And as Hemingway said, "One cat leads to others".

Watching 2 kittens play is one of life's most therapeutic activities.

It probably makes them feel tough when in reality, they can't leave the yard without their spouses permission!

It’s fricking pathetic that the many of the same people that say “I Like dogs more than most humans” will follow that with “frick that cat. Hang it from a basketball goal.”
