LINK

Per this link, he cannot be given community supervision due to his crimes unless he is only charged with manslaughter. Maybe they asked for community supervision(probation) if they took the manslaughter charge

County clerk site shows they asked to have community supervision considered as punishment since he has no priors. Also requested to be sentenced by a judge if found guilty. Probably just formalities

Saw somewhere the trial will start June 18th as someone else pointed out.

For real. Guy stabbed someone to death (arguably 1st degree) and can get off clean while garret ward is getting 30-life?

Yeah -- so I followed this pretty closely when I lived in Houston years ago (because it's such a strange case and Huntley seems like such a douchebag) but I hadn't heard much about it in years. But I was talking to a friend of mine in Houston yesterday who was all pissed off because he said it looked like he's going to walk on self defense simply because people followed him to his house.

* Tiger Droppings was the first result when I Googled him (I'm in Southeast LA), so I came out of my 3-years of "Lurker" status to see if anyone else had heard this guy was going to go free.

I started following because I had mutual friends with the victim and as you say Huntley and Stephanie come off as such awful people. However, the facts that had been made public all indicated that the victims and Huntley happened to run into each other again at the apartment complex, not that they followed him there. If the latter is true, that definitely changes the complexion of the case. Still, I can't believe that they wouldn't try the case. I don't know what Texas law holds on castle doctrine/ self defense in a situation like this where it was a giant apartment complex versus a house. There are too many variables - based on the facts the public is working under - not to proceed. But given the fact that this has taken 4 years to go to trial, who knows.

You're right, I went back and re-read some of the articles from 2015 and they mention that it was just a crazy coincidence that they ended up at the same place. Interestingly, I seem to remember reading that they all got into it in the Gables parking lot, but the article I read tonight from Chron.com made it seem like they ran into each other on the 4th floor of his building, like in the hallway. I guess I could see the defense making an argument about how unlikely it would be for two people to get into a fight and then randomly run into each other hours later across town in front of Grichor's place. Or at least say that Huntley must have believed they followed him, even if they didn't. But I'm not sure if that's even a thing since I know absolutely nothing about Castle Doctrine, or when and where it's okay to stab a dude with a freaking steak knife. Who knows, though. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Sorry about your mutual friend's loss, BTW...the whole thing's a bizarre nightmare any way you look at it.

You think it has anything to do with daddy's money and connections?

Its a totally different situation. This had aggression on both sides and women involved in the fight. The case isn't nearly as strong for the DA. This guy could claim it was self-defense and/or he was protecting his girlfriend from being attacked.

Does anybody know how to find out what's happening today with the case? Obviously it ain't the OJ trial, but wondering if there's another source for info besides waiting for the news to cover it.

there's a Reddit account that is updating it daily. If you just search his name on Reddit and filter by newest. It's pretty astounding how little coverage this case has received. Apparently Grichor's counsel is trying to introduce the deceased's drug/alcohol intake as part of their defense.

gem of a pic from that reddit:

Huntleys dad doesn’t have money or connections. His moms sister has a lot of money so I assume that’s where most is coming from. He also worked for them prior to this. His lawyers did a good job of minimizing publicity and it’s been almost 4 years. Probably won’t be much on the news about it.
