Spend $1-2K on a hybrid mattress (part memory foam, part coil springs) like a Brooklyn Bedding mattress and save the $4K for better investments...

I have a temper pedic. They last forever. This one was my grand mothers and now we have it. Has at least 15 years and it's still going strong. I am no fan of financing, but worth every penny, IMO.

We got ours about 4 years ago. I can't sleep in any other bed now. It's amazing.
We didn't get the base though. I think the bed was $4500 out the door.

If the OT is this happy about them I'm basically sold...these threads usually end up negative lol. Think I'll check out the website that got linked as well. If I can get the same bed for cheaper that's always a plus.

It's not worth it. About 10 years ago I got one for around $3500 with 12 months no interest. Looking back, I wouldn't do it again. It's not worth that much. Now the one I have doesn't have cooling, because you'll sweat like a sumbitch on one of those and they are really firm. It's firmer in the winter, softer in the summer, but you'll sweat in the summer in one without some sort of cooling system. It took a while for my body to adjust to that thing so I didn't hurt in the morning. If you pay that much, you shouldn't have to adjust to shite.

spent $4k on a tempurpedic mattress. woke up every morning with a backache. Gave it away and bought a regular mattress for 1/2 that and sleep like a baby.

That is worrisome. I saw Stearns has tempur padding but a strong coil system. Maybe that could be better for long term back pain relief. The cost are near the same

I need to buy a super hard queen mattress for my aching bed . I’m about to start shopping now. Budget is 2k max. Any recommendations?

I would really consider a hybrid mattress like someone else mentioned. I have one and it's the best mattress I've ever had and it was WAY less expensive.
