Very cool. You ever do anything that has a filtered water setup in it also?

Once every couple of months I change out a bout 1/3. I don't monitor any of the levels. I never had a problem. But I don't have it full of fish either.

I'm working on one now. But, I'm not using an actual filter. I'm setting it up in an attempt to use the gravel drainage layer underneath all the soil as the "filter." I'm pulling water out of that and running it out a little "waterfall" like area. I'm not sure how well it's going to work, but I'm not planning to have much living in the water other than a few minnows that will act as garter snake food.

I have a 90 gallon reef tank with a 20 gallon sump. Honestly after the first year it's fairly minor stuff to keep up with it.
I'll do a 15ish gallon water change every month or so and it's been doing fine for over 2 years now. Never really dose it with anything other than the occasional coral fuel.
This thread reminds me I do meet to give the front glass a good scrubbing to get the coraline algae off though

I think that it will work fine. That is essentially what an HOB or canister filter is.
You just going to use a small pump to circulate the water back into the pool?

I have longbtold myself that I will get a reef tank the second I can afford for someone else to take care of it.
I just know myself well enough to know that I’d put in a ton of money and effort and then get tired of the maintenance after a year.
So I’m not gonna invest in it until I can afford fir a service to keep up with it.

Yeah, I had a small power head laying around from an old fish tank. I have it plumbed to circulate the water.

Just have a 25 gallon fresh water with platy and a few tetra with a blue crayfish. Those saltwater tanks look beautiful.
