yeah, mostly just stuff I read about and don't want to forget, parts of books, etc.
I use field notes when I go on international trips and try and log most stuff we do, and I'll write a few thoughts down when something big happens in news/sports. I think it would be cool to have that from my parents/grandparents from major events during their lifetimes, so that's the thinking.

I keep a work journal on the happenings everyday. My personal life, I'd rather forget about.

I do. Started keeping it back in ‘99 through about ‘03. Then dropped off from doing it for ten years.
But then I visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library a few years back and saw his daily diary on display. It inspired me to start back again. Here is his diary he kept while he was President of the United States.
It may not seem like a big deal as you write now. But after chronicling your life for awhile, you get the rare opportunity to go back and relive all things big and small that took place in your universe. As will your progeny.

How well does you personal diary stack up against a US President?

Yeah, it's my TD post history.

It goes against the immediate gratification of the current world, but I’m sure if you were to start a journal now, in five years looking back would be amazing.
You do not know how fast the world around you was going to change. But it’s kind of a big effort

Yeah, of my cock size, douchebag.
4/17/18 - still 7.2"

Not a journal, but we started a "memory jar" in 2016. It's simply a mason jar that we put notes in when special events happen ie, trips, births, deaths, anything memorable. At the end of the year we open it and reminisce. Pretty cool

That's actually a pretty cool idea.
Of course it'd be awkward when we open it and the kids ask what all the 7.2" notes mean.
