I'm not scared of needles, I just cant watch one enter into skin. My past experiences included fainting, vomiting and that's where I drew the line and never looked at it again. Watching it on tv it's unsettling to me but not anywhere near the reaction I experience IRL.

Try Heroine. It’ll cure you.

I hate most of these dumb terms for different fears but I actually can relate to this.
I absolutely loathe any sort of bloodwork. It makes me nauseous and anxious as hell. For that reason I usually skip out on blood drives. I have to chew on a rag and hyperventilate whenever I get lab work done.
Sounds stupid but it really is a phobia of mine.

Yeah in all seriousness, no matter how many times I get a shot and it doesn’t hurt, I’m always nervous as hell the day of the doctors appointment.

I can draw blood and start IVs on others all day long and the site of it and blood doesn’t phase me at all.
But if I need bloodwork or an IV started....I can’t watch or I will faint. Always have to just look away until they are done.
Eta: I don’t have to turn away if I’m getting a shot though

I've gotten a LOT better over the years, but I still can't watch. I have to turn away whenever I'm getting a shot or an IV or blood drawn.

I do big time... it is a fairly recent development after an extremely inexperienced phlebotomist dug around with a needle for what seemed like several minutes on her 3rd attempt. Since then I pass out about 75% of the time during blood draws.

My daughter has this ( really step daughter but I raised her) she’s 31( no pics) has two kids and to this day is afraid on needles to the point that she gets sick. If she goes to the walk in clinic I have to go with her because she is so nervous. She doesn’t want my wife or her husband, I guess because I took her when she was young to the doctor a lot

I used to have this phobia up until about 23 years old. Once I became a diabetic, I started taking four insulin shots per day.
I also have bloodwork drawn 4 times per year at the lab.
This past September, I was in ICU at OLOL . I had internal bleeding. Over a 12 day period, I received four units of blood. My veins were pricked for blood work 22 times over 12 days. My veins collapsed and my arms were black and blue.
The last unit of blood that I received was in my right ankle. Each unit of blood being received takes around two hours.?
I also prick my fingers for glucose readings.
Not afraid because many needles for diabetics are sharp and readily inject into a fold of skin around the waist. You get used to needles after twenty years.

I had to google for a while before stumbling across trypanophobia. I knew something wasn't right with me because i'm no puss. I love gore stuff, pimple popping etc. But my brain puts me into shock when it comes to needles.

You try the arm things that you wear for like I think a week or two at a time and gives a constant blood sugar reading by running a special scanner over it?
My coworker’s wife uses that and she loves it. Says she doesn’t feel the tiny needle at all.

It is very real. And for some can stem from traumatic experiences with blood draws as a child.
That’s why it is very important for children to have this considered. If your child is getting a shot or bloodwork or an IV....they should be offering some sort of distraction. Or use numbing spray or some other product to minimize pain. If they don’t....you should ask them to. Procedural pain prevention in pediatrics is very important.
Look into Buzzy as well (you can buy on Amazon). Works really well. I know....because I bought one to use for my daily IM injections of progesterone oil (painful shot...it’s a thick oil) when I did IVF.

All these baws too pussified to get a flu shot have trypanophobia. Otherwise logical men just don’t want to admit it and make up all other mental gymnastics to justify

Needles don't bother me in the least. I've had comments made by nurses that I was an easy patient for them to stick with a needle.

I don't have a fear, but I damn sure don't like them.

Doesn't bother me at all. I usually watch to make sure they're doing it right.
Now, the thought of anesthesia for a procedure absolutely terrifies me.

Not fear exactly but I really really don't like needles, especially IV's. I was badly dehydrated from a stomach bug one time and refused having one even though they strongly recommended it.
