Expedition max. The third row has the latch system unlike the government motors.

SO has a highlander with a third row but its actually one of the only SUVs that cant fit 3 in the second row

2014 Highlander apparently could fit 3 across. When cars.com says "fit", they mean it has the restraining hook for the over the head latch.

Why not a van with a bench seat?

And unbuckle? My kids aren't strong enough to push the button and pull the latch out with one hand each. Plus, I don't really want them to.

You could, but what does that solve that any other 3rd row vehicle doesn't?

I'm talking strictly about the 2nd row of a 2 row vehicle vs Captains chairs in a 3 row vehicle.

The perks of a van are the flooding seats and sliding door. If you're willing to give up that for a 2nd row bench seat, just get another SUV.

Yeah it would be cool, but I'd rather the SUV if I'm going with a bench seat. I lug a family of 5 around and it's no issue in the GC. Like I've said, it's way better than captain's seats if that's the alternative.

I don't mind a van, I just prefer an SUV.

Does a mini van doors slide all the way back to give u access to third row?

If not, then I feel like the best solution is putting all three in second row. I know a Tahoe or surb will have enough room based off everything I read. Like I said, my Tahoe has captain chairs in second row and with rear facing seats, I can’t get to third row.

We’re buying an Odyssey here in the next couple days and also looked at the Pacifica. Availability of similarly appointed vehicles for what we needed, the Odyssey was about $1000 cheaper.

But to add to the debate of bench or captain chairs, both vehicles offer a removable middle seat in the second row as your kids grow out of car seats. (Pacifica has it as an option, Odyssey is standard)

Expedition. Get the bench row. You don’t want to deal with crawling over captain chairs, etc when they are babies. When they are old enough to aggravate each other (around 3) trade it in for captain chairs so they arent sitting so close to each other and constantly aggravating each other.

Good luck with the pregnancy. Y’all will be fine. Many have successfully raised triplets and so will you. Ignore the many negative comments you’ll receive and you’ll be a much happier person.

We have 3 in the second row in both a QX60 and a Tahoe, but two are front facing. If all yours are rear facing...

Real shite, you can fit 3 carseats in probably anything other than a compact. Forgot the brand name but there's a Canadian company that makes carseats that are a fair bit skinnier than your standard toddler carseat. You could easily fit 3 of those or one of those and a couple Chico snap in car seats in a Honda accord for example. You don't have to get yourself a XXL super size suv if you don't want to.

Edit: all rear facing

The problem isn't width necessarily (depending on the car), it's having a rear facing seat behind the driver's side if you're over about 6' tall. I would have had to sit dangerously close to the steering wheel if I had to have that behind me.

Honda Pilot is the best rated that’ll fit 3 on 2nd row and you still have the 3rd row as an option. Toyota Highlander isn’t big enough and the leg room sucks.

I'm an inch or so shy of 6' and don't have a problem with a rear facing Chico snap in or a regular toddler carseat

Honestly the rear facing car seat is jamming this up... with the new laws, we will having them rear facing into 4 years old per the wife!! I will go check out vans but pretty sure it would easier to have a Tahoe where u can use the step side to put one of the children in the middle.

Hell I wish I could get an LS Tahoe for next few years but cloth seats ain’t happening with toddlers. I clean the leather now each month and it’s mind boggling how bad they can dirty it up with their shoes and shite.
