quote:Probably the best answer. My neice also finished her junior high years at UVA but decided to transfer to Lafayette High in her freshman year to join clubs and play sports. She seems to be better adjusted than the kids who went to Lafayette Middle, Alleman, or Edgar Martin. It's a great option if you want your kid to avoid the middle school BS and it's run better than the virtual schools that the district runs.
My kid did 5/6/7 grade with UVA. Scored mastery or above in all leap tests for what that’s worth. Decided she wanted to go back to regular school for social reasons and is currently hating the schedule. But seems better prepared than most kids.

Thanks, this is just the type of personal insight I was seeking instead of the dismissive and pithy comments from some who add nothing of substance to the discussion.

I don’t have any experience with students but know a couple of the administrators and from my experience they are reputable people. Based on those relationships from years ago, I would say I’d be comfortable with UVA if I had a need.

Coed high school wasn’t a prison (at least for heterosexual me).
What about gay you?
All the rules in regular school are strange for her. She has to be on time, University View was more at her own pace. You can’t talk to people in regular school without getting in trouble, people get detention, stuff like that.

I know nothing of it other than it is ghetto on top of a superfund site. I’d probably not send my kids there.
