Dr recommended it for my anxiety and OCD, but im very nervous as I've never done any kind of drug like this.
i know its been around forever so i was curious if anyone has any experience with it?
I hear its one of the best for side effects but ive also heard the first 2-3 weeks are rough as it gets in your system.
TIA

Sounds like you really need it.

I am really surprised that your Dr recommended Prozac. It was the first real "breakthrough" antidpepressant and anxiety drug. But they have whole new classes of SSRIs that are more refined and sophisticated. Way fewer side effects.
One thing that I can assure you about. When you ask around a community of people who take these drugs. They all say the same thing: "Keep trying different ones to find the one that works for you. Every person is unique in what works for them".
Good luck.

i agree, but its also been around the longest and has the longest trials and data

Been on it intermittently for 20+ years. All SSRI's will vary from person to person as to side effects. I've never had any with Prozac, which is something that I can't say with nearly every other antidepressant that Has been tried on me. I had no issues getting on. It's the getting off that you have to be careful with.

Never take Latuda. It sucks and you aren't supposed to drink with it.
Try Zyprexa.

High C do you recommend it?

I say yes only because it has been the most effective thing that I've found for ME. Am I cured of depression? No, but I'm in a much better place than I was prior. Again though, it is absolutely a case by case thing. What works best for you may be something completely different.

No no no. If you miss a dose it's possible you could become suicidal. I learned the hard way and was forced into rehab after trying to get off Prozac after hearing my aunt had died from being on too much medication. I tried to quit cold turkey and tried to hurt myself. If it wasn't for rehab I wouldn't be here.

Mix it with alcohol, you'll be the life of the party

Wow! With just Prozac? How old were you when this happened, if you didn't mind my asking? That's honestly the most extreme Prozac experience that I've ever heard.

You are supposed to taper off of the medication, not quit cold turkey.

Lol no. The half life of prozac when taken chronically approaches 1-2 weeks. As mentioned above, you are supposed to taper it off, because shocker, you are fricking with chemicals in your brain. But missing a dose will have almost zero noticable effect.

I would do everything that doesn't involve medication before taking prozac. Don't start down this road unless you absolutely have to.

You really should get Psychotropic meds through a Psychiatrist. No other doctor us qualified to properly prescribe and monitor them.
Prozac is an antidepressant. It is old had has plenty of side effects.
Are you OCD behavioral disorder or OCD personality disorder? They are very different.

Not for everyone. Different people react differently, just like some people are allergic to some medications while others are not.
