A friend of my sons was going back to school from Mobile and they put up a roadblock in Stateline, Mississippi. They searched his car and found a grinder and a bag of delta 8 and said if he didn’t sign something they were taking him to jail. He has never even had a traffic ticket before. He got a ticket for simple possession, which is bizarre as weed is legal in Mississippi and Alabama.

I can’t determine if delta 8 is legal in Mississippi or not but it’s completely legal in Alabama. Anyone on here deal with anything like this shite. I remember hearing State line was a trap town before for speeding tickets etc. I imagine I am going to have the cops cousin or some shite on the bench.

That is not exactly a traffic ticket and he was not in Portland but at least he wasn’t in Russia.

Unfortunately he did call a lawyer and it was me.

If he was vaping going down the road in Mississippi I could understand it. But he wasn’t doing that but all these kids cars reak. I have warned them all about this as that gives the cops probable cause to search the car.

Alabama actually passed Medical marijuana before Mississippi did they’re just fighting over the licenses.

This is definitely about money, my brief conversation with them made that clear

Call the local DA’s office or mayor’s court, drop some coin in a reelection fund or two to grease the politicians. May just negate this to a moving violation instead of a drug case.

Look into the citations again to make sure it’s nothing serious or criminal going on the record. If it’s just traffic stuff, tell your kid’s friend to pay the ticket and move on—lesson learned. I got a speeding ticket in that same area last year for going 6 mph over the limit, according to the cop’s radar (per ticket). I called up an old law school buddy thinking I’d fight it, but he told me the same thing: just pay it and let it go. Honestly, they’re probably lucky it wasn’t worse, all things considered. Mississippi police can be ruthless against out-of-state tags in that Highway 45 stretch.

My car never did.

Toking up your car is trashy AF. Do that in your backyard

And forget being high. A kid fricking with a joint is a LOT more distracted than one on a cell phone.

Personally, you would rather me be driving in heavy traffic thru a construction zone after a half dozen plus gin and tonics than after a few hits of pot. Luckily, I don't drink and drive anymore and knew better than to ever try while high.

I would rather a kid be sucking on a budweiser than thinking with his dick while trying to respond to blowjob emojis from his girlfriend.

A better place for both is seated with said girlfriend in the third base dugout after midnight at the little league field like a normal kid.

Maybe you should tell your client to not do drugs. Alcohol is perfectly safe and legal and can be bought just about anywhere.

Call the DA and ask about whatever their local flavor of bribery: PTI, pretrial diversion, etc. happens to be. Have the kid do that.

Just make sure to avoid using the word “bribe”.
