Mosquitos are ruthless this time of year. Anyone able to control their backyard?

I’d love to hear some methods. It seems like nothing really works.

Get Malathion poison. Mix it and spray around everything touching the ground: the house, trees, shed, etc.

Will take a week or two to see big difference, but it will take care of mosquitoes for about 6 weeks.

Also helps to avoid anything that captures water. Mosquitoes can't reproduce without standing water.

I use Bifen, but the Spartan product works. Out of the Hub city.

I’m out of luck on this one, as my backyard backs up to a lake

This is probably the best answer. I’ve been to a coworkers house before that had a couple high velocity oscillating fans attached to the wall near his patio. It worked really well! I want to try that out.

I have always used fans on my patios. It has worked for years. I have never had to use anything and I live on a lake.

Wrong. Go to mosquitobarrier.com and place your order. I have been using it for years and it works.

My dad still has some of this stuff. The old timers swore by it for everything.

Just throw out some Phaser, Temik, and maybe a dab of DDT. No more bug problems. Swearsies.

If you live in EBR you can call the mosquito abatement people at 225-356-3297 and schedule them to come spray your property once a week for free (included in your tax somewhere). They will also do an overview of your property to see if there are any nesting sites that you may want to take care of as well.
