Anyone have a bad experience with an Airbnb?

My daughter and 3 of her friends rented one in Destin recently and they found a small hidden camera in the outlet in the bathroom about 3 hours after checking in.
They called the person they rented from and told them about the camera, and she tried to act like she had no clue about it. She told them that she was out of state and couldn't come over but that she would refund them if they wanted to leave quietly.
They waited for the refund to go through then removed the outlet cover and camera and flushed the camera down the toilet.
I didn't find any of this out until yesterday when she came over after getting back.
Anyone have else have a bad experience with a rental?

I was all about them until the fees got so out of control. Plus, the bait and switch of showing you a price that isn't the actual price just to reel you in. I can't stand that. I'm told they got rid of that, but i haven't booked since out of spite.

She said that they were all talking and joking about it on the way there. After getting settled one of the girls brought up the conversation and they started looking for a hidden camera.

That wasn't the only camera. It was just the one they found. Your daughter and her friends should have left immediately and called the police.

Did they take pictures of it? I'm not trying to call BS but you can't come up with a story like this with out significant evidence.
For all I know they were drunk and high as hell and thought a night light was a camera
ETA: I bet it was one of these OP. In an outlet.... its a night light
FWIW I found this in a home of a friend one time and thought it was a camera. The one I found was made b Eufy which sells cameras. I almost went ballistic, until I googled it. it was a night light...

Did they verify if there was a memory card in the camera? Why did they flush away evidence?

We did stay at a place in Burlington, VT back in '19 where the host was somewhat standoffish but aside from that we've always had positive experiences.
