What is your opinion when it comes to sleeping on one's back? Do you feel strongly, one way or the other, about using no pillow under your head, but one under your knees?

Just wondering if you can clear this up.

Thanks.

Well of course jacking off makes you fall asleep quicker

It's easier to sleep on your back when you're not used to the position when you begin with no pillow under the head

Completely flat is a very neutral position with your knees slightly raised that is easy on your spine and allows you to sleep more easily.

Once you're used to it I have no issue with throwing a pillow under you or when starting out a very thin pillow that isn't keeping you really propped up with your chin to your chest.

The pillow under knees is the most important part though when learning to sleep on your back it amps up the comfort level like you can't imagine if you're not used to it.

TLDR

Easier to acclimate and breath with no pillow

When I've tried it, it's like trying to relax at attention.

You remember when you were deployed and over watch wasn't a thing and you'd put your ruck under your knees with rifle on your chest
And it made you substantially more comfortable?

It's just like that except with a pillow and less extreme.

Laying completely flat on the other hand is awful and I can't do it, I have to have that pillow under my knees

I was just fricking with you.

I do agree that using a very thin pillow is ideal...At least for me anyway. I sleep on my back a lot when I can. I do have to use a pillow under my legs to prevent strain in my lumbar region also.

But if my back is bothering me I have to get in the most convuluted position that is basically me sleeping on my stomach from the waist up and thin slightly twisted at the waist almost to a side position, with whatever leg is to the side my head is turned bent at the knee and kicked out to the side in like a 45 degree angle if my knee was the vertex. If that makes sense.

I usually just crash on the couch though when my back is fricked.

I have changed positions. Almost always stay on my stomach. Very weird. Whatever way I have to face to see the tv. The other way is more comfortable. It's a blessing and a curse.

You considered taking up yoga baw? I know it sounds gayer than Justin biber but it did wonders for my back

I do a yoga class once a week and ain't really flexible but it's worked wonders for me and made my lifts go up as well because you get better at recruiting muscle groups

I used to do yoga but it was a coed class and they kicked me out due to farting while bending and stretching and getting boners from checking out the chicks.

I just made that up, but that's what would probably happen.

I'm about to crash, catch you later Comrade.

I'm going to shoot you an email tomorrow Titus about the sleep position you mentioned.

It's directly tied to hip, groin and lower back flexibility

Maybe so. When I tried it, I used a pillow under my head, not my knees. Sleeping on my back did help with bilateral shoulder pain, but I just couldn't get used to it. Will try pillow under knees in the future, but getting back to lifting has pretty much cured the shoulder pain, so I can sleep the way I want. On. My. Side.

When I started having back problems, I started sleeping while hanging upside down in a closet, wearing a bat costume. Fixed up my spine real nice.

Seriously, though, I was a stomach sleeper too for years but back pain made me start sleeping on my back. I didn't have much trouble switching over though.

in the last three months before the whole thing with my heart I had to resort to trying to sleep in evergrowing sitting up positions because it was becoming harder and harder to breathe. At first I could sleep in my recliner, then I could sleep in my recliner but without it reclined. Then I had to move to the couch and try to sleep sitting straight up. By the last night before I checked into the hospital I spent that night sitting on the corner of our coffee table leaned forward in an unsuccessful attempt to both breathe and sleep. Needless to say, from late July to early November of 2016 I got very little sleep.

Thankfully now I'm back to sleeping in my bed and can even lay down again.

I have never been able to sleep on my back. I am going to try your method. Wish me luck.

Darth, I hear you. Fighting heart failure is a bitch. I used to sleep on the left side of the bed. After coming down with heart failure and spending many months sleeping in a recliner do to not being able to catch my breath. That really sucked. I had to swap sides of the bed, sleep with three pillows. Still have to do that. Most of the time, I have to lay on my right side. If I lay on my left, I loose my breathe all together.
