Getting old stinks and I hate wearing reading glasses. Has anyone gotten surgical correction for Presbyopia?

I am seriously considering getting it done. Just looking for advice.

Over Correct one eye and leave the other slightly blurred for up close reading. Your eyes blend the two "visions" and you can read up close again without glasses.

No surgery, but when I started getting old, my optometrist tried the monovision with my contacts. Personally I didn't like it at all, and convinced him to just do the best possible distance correction and I'm happy to use reading glasses indoors.

YMMV, but I didn't like the alteration in depth perception. It did work pretty well as far as going between distance and close.

How long did you live with the monovision? Thats my first step before surgery.

I've had 3 eye muscle surgeries to correct a double vision
problem. The double vision problem cropped up after my second cataract surgery but the doctor said the cataract surgery did not cause the problem. The double vision problem was there all the time, said the doctor, but was masked by the glasses I was wearing.

The eye muscle surgery was uncomfortable for a few days afterward. Did this 3 times. The 3rd surgery cleared up the double vision. Had a very good surgeon.

His name is Dr. John Richerson in Shreveport, La. He is a pediatric eye surgeon. Was referred to him because that speciality sees more eye muscle problems which are more prevalent in children.

IIRC, it was about 2 years.

It was never like "OMG I can't stand this", just a little off, and like I said, for what it was supposed to do it worked well; for myself though, I really don't mind readers for close work. It only took a a day or two to get completely used to the different focusing.

I have natural mono vision (one eye for distance and one for up close. Everything was fine until I started experiencing slight astigmatism. Then I had to start wearing glasses to correct it. Works pretty well but I'd like to watch a movie without glasses. It fricks up your golf swing and putting, too, because the focus is always a little off.

I considered the surgery. End of the day staying with mono vision. Took about two weeks for my brain to adjust. I see really now most days. If im golfing or doing something else where I need sharp distance eyesight I have pairs for both eyes to be clear.

A buddy of mine had his eyes done and his complications convinced me to stay with contacts. He has persistent red dry eyes. He uses drops constantly and looks miserable.
