Great in theory. The damn cameras seem to turn off at the worst times though. It's nuts!

Walter Scott was a perfect case and he had to plead guilty himself
So take up that case. Point out how absurd it is that cops are nearly untouchable under the current legal system. Or even better, take up for someone who's not black and been victimized by police, the cases are out there.
If you really want change and not just conflict then consider your strategy, because causing civil unrest over Alton fricking Sterling is gonna do more harm to your cause than good.

What happens if they don't trust the cops and legitimately have reasons not to?
There is difference between not trusting cops and violently resisting arrest and taking actions which jeopardize the officer's life.

That's were I disagree.
And you're wrong. Cops aren't judges. They don't weigh circumstances and interpret actions in pursuit of the ultimate decision on a matter. They are enforcers. Even they are totally in the wrong on arresting you (not the case in Sterling and Brown), resisting and putting their lives in peril will be met with justifiable use of force.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying cops are perfect or even exceptional. I'm saying you are fighting the wrong battle.

Criminal
justice reform even starts with the worst offenders/dirtbags. doesn't our constitution protect all people?
Sure, but this really isn't a constitutional matter unless you are arguing unlawful arrest in violation of the 4th/14th - and argument you'll never win in the Sterling and Brown matters. It's a justifiable use of force matter.
quote:
They have basic constitutional right. It's not really about defending them it's more so about the constitution.
The constitution doesn't protect you from lawful arrest (probable cause is easily established in both Sterling and Brown's cases.) And it sure as hell doesn't permit you to inflict violence upon officers who are lawfully arresting you.

Setting the bar too high renders the system dysfunctional. It won't work
Huh? You are talking about totally removing the bar.

Do you mean the police?

If we need cut and dry perfect cases to get reform
We really just need to focus on actual cases of police brutality, negligence, or incompetence. They do exist.
Tamir Rice and John Crawford III should have gotten more attention than Micheal Brown or Alton Sterling. After honestly looking at the grand jury findings, the Brown shooting was pretty well justified. The Sterling case will end up being, at best, a grey area. Both Rice and Crawford were very obvious cases of either incompetence or negligence on the part of police.
And frankly, if "black lives matter" really cared about black lives, they'd protest the homicide clearance rate in New Orleans and the massive amount of black homicide victims in urban America. BLM only seems to care when a white cop is involved.

AGreed. BUt do you realize how many lies the cops would be caught in. Major lies.

Its not the particular case, because there is no way to say those cops did it because of race.
I don't think anyone can argue that

However it's the overlying dynamics of the case, and how seemingly, there seems to be a protection for police when they commit crimes, especially involving black suspects.
And yet today we learn that Session's DOJ is sending a cop to jail for upwards of 25 years for killing a black suspect without justifiable force.

Sessions is a self contradictory Alabama cuck. What do you expect?

Here's a lie for you right now. You're not a total fricking moron.

Meh, this is a good reason to have body cams for all. The police save face for doing the right thing on cam, and if someone is wronged it comes out. Win win.

Your argument will only be accepted by biased people, ignorant in who is handling this matter, who want to accept it. The chief investigator in this matter was Walt Green - the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Baton Rouge. He was granted that position by President Obama and just recently resigned. He had not been replaced yet. In his stead, has been Corey Amundson who worked directly underneath Green.
So there is no Trump/Session guy even investigating this case.

Just liberal propaganda. Cops are always honest and dignified. They only have the public's best interest at heart.

You mentioned it is his DOJ. I might be reaching here but I think that implies he is supposed to over see it. Help me catch up though please.
Maybe it's only his when it's convenient to your argument?

This is not true. Ruby Ridge- guy killed a US Marshal in self defense and was justified legally. Hell they even gave him his gun back afterward.
If they don't have legal justification for an arrest you're legally allowed to defend yourself.

Lets play this out.
You kill a cop attempting to unjustly arrest you. Other officers arrive on scene. You attempt to thwart round two of the unjust arrest. You die.
Now please, tell me how it's a better idea to resist again.

It's a counterargument to the nonsensical position that the DOJ is not indicted these officers because the U.S.A.G. is a racist.
If that were true and Sessions was intervening in these matters and instructing his U.S. Attorneys to not indict because he hates black people then how does one square away the fact that that same DOJ just today accepted a plea from a white officer for what for all intents and purposes is second degree murder of a black suspect?

I should have been more clear. I used the phrase "justifiable arrest" earlier and should have used it again here. I meant wrong as to the ultimate outcome of the matter. If the cop has reasonable suspicion to detain you, then you cannot legally resist.

I never said it was a good idea, just that it's legal. You have to make it alive to court to win.
Hell there was another case in Texas where a SWAT team was performing a no knock raid and the homeowner killed one of the police. He thought his house was getting robbed and he opened fire. He was acquitted.
It's good to know what's legal and what's prudent -its not always the same thing.

Every post you have made in this thread is deeply seated in racism against the black man. You've earned my respect.
