I purchased a sweet Mazda 6 that was an official Citrus Bowl vehicle. So it was sort of loaned out to some VIP clientele or big wigs for a week.

Big discount, car like new and loaded, win-win. Only regret is that it wasn't the wagon.

Some f'd out Chevy Cruze from Enterprise, no f'n way. you'd be better off picking up something directly from the owner on Craigslist.

Mazda 6, a very underrated car.

Man i think rental cars are generally pretty well maintained. I mean it's some pretty bad press when one breaks down on you and you're leaving bad reviews and shite all of over the place. And honestly, how abused could it be? They sell those things usually at the 30 thousand mile or less mark.

Buy the truck, there's nothing wrong with it.

My parents bought me a Pontiac Grand Am from Enterprise when I moved to Baton Roige for graduate school. Was it the best car in the world? Absolutely not....it was a rental Pontiac. But it didn't give me any major problems.

Would I buy one now that I have a career and family? Nope.

You should know that the cars being sold directly by the rental company (In my case Enterprise) to the public are the cream of the crop. Only the top 10% of the rental fleet will get sold directly to the public. All others go to auction or are wholesaled off to dealers. There’s a good chance if you’re buying a used car from a dealership that it was a rental and you just don’t know it.

The rental company is not going to take the reputation hit by selling junk cars to the public under their own brand. That’s why they only sell the best of the best themselves.

My personal experience is, rental cars do things my car isn’t capable of doing.

Me. Bought a 2015 Pathfinder with under 20k miles for a steal of a deal. Bought it in 2016. Wife’s still rolling it with over 100k and not a damned thing wrong with it.

I’d do it again.

Unless it’s a sweet deal I’d have to pass. I’ve rented cars and I drove those bitches like I stole them....

Sister-in-law did. It's a Sentra or Altima or something. It's lasted her 2-3 years without issue.

I figure the CVT will probably die at some point, but you could say the exact same thing about pretty much any new Nissan.

I bought a 2017 Buick Lacrosse that was a rental, 32k miles at purchase in 2018. Two years and 15k miles later, never had a single issue. I absolutely love that car.

Paid 23k for a car that was 42k MSRP a year before--given a lot of that is just Buicks not holding value whatsoever. It's a risk, but just test drive it really well before you buy.

Bought a 2011 Sienna in 2013 with less than 20k miles on it. Previous use showed fleet. It was in great shape and we’ve had it 7 years now. Still running great.

Get a wreck check first. Test drive to a body shop and let them look at it. If it has been wrecked and repaired, walk away.

Hertz and enterprise pay absolute bottom dollar for collision repairs. Cheap and fast so they can get them rented out again.

I have bought two F150s that were rentals, had no issues, would do it again, the vehicles are usually well maintained. 99% of people drive their rental vehicles like they do their own cars, responsibly. Sure there will be a few idiots that will try to abuse a rental, but the incidence is probably the same as a non-rental used car.

My wife's crossover that I currently use for commuting was a rental prior.

It was probably better maintained than any regular 2-year old vehicle with 40k or so miles.

Most people out there don't take care of their shite, and those that do drive it until it won't drive any more.

Have seen loads of rentals come through a dealership and they are no different than a used car with similar miles.

Frankly, they are probably maintained better.

Those that say that they wouldn’t do it have never really checked into it.

I’ve bought four vehicles over the course of the last 25 years from Enterprise. I’ve never regretted doing that.

I am now getting ready to shop for another and the first place I will look will be Enterprise.
