You let her pick out your clothes while she bangs other guys while you’re away.

Fancy. I'm usually cargo shorts and a Bernie T.

The problem for some, especially in the South, is the difference between looking stupid and being a sartorial iconoclast is measured in angstroms.
I’m not too proud to say that I absolutely had to look up what the frick an angstrom was
I think the problem is the faux quirk. If you’ve got enough knowledge and/or swagger to pull something off on your own, go for it. Whether it works or it doesn’t, at least it’s interesting.
The problem is when guys basically try to adopt a quirk wholesale from someone else, or someone told them it’s the appropriate date to wear white bucks, etc.
Don’t build around the quirk. Learn how to dress yourself. Rock solid, no nonsense, sharp as a motherfricking tack dress yourself. Once you’ve figured that out, you can branch out from there. Not a moment before.

Buy a decent suit, have it tailored, and wear it until you are comfortable in it!! I promise you my husband's father does not own a suit but my husband wears one often. He does not have to wear one for work. It is awesome that he has the confidence and desire to go to dinner dressed as a grown up.
J- just replied to the last post. Not directed to you since you have also learned this.

I’ll see your short sleeved button down and raise you the short sleeved suit jacket.
There’s an older attorney in Baton Rouge who is known for wearing that. Legitimately the only time in my life I’ve seen it in person

Good advice - but my brother likes to shop for himself

Lol - he’s almost 40 and divorced - he doesn’t have much of a choice
Luckily his son helps him out sometimes

Let me guess…Daniel Cremeaux shorts with the loud flower design shirt. No socks and Sperry’s. 50/50 Tommy Bahama sunglasses stuck in the hair.

This exists? Why?

Look…just get some flat front pants that fit. Tan, blue and grey. Then get a bunch of high end golf shirts….FJ or Peter Millar. Then grab two sports coats….blue and khaki
Mix and match.
Wear the shirts and pants unless it’s upscale. Then throw on the jacket.
If it’s a suit situation that’s a whole other conversation.

Fifty “anyone else’s wife like how they dress” answer is obviously now

It does, and I assume it’s just an extension of the “I don’t care what anyone thinks as long as I’m comfortable” mindset.
