Would be nice if we, collectively, came together and refused to buy over inflated shite.

This is the beauty of a free market. It will work itself out if people, collectively, do the same.

We don’t live in a free market

It's not truly free market we live in, I know this. But for goods like OP is talking about, the market dictates the prices and if everyone stops buying consumer goods at a price, they'll go down or go out of business.

You do not stay 6 nights in a hotel, eat out, buy uniforms, pay dues, buy equipment, etc for $2k.

6 nights in hotel - 900
Dues - 400
Uniforms - 200

Not every travel team out there is dropping major bucks, you just assume that.

I have massively cut back on going out to eat, shopped a lot more sales/blems, a lot less frivolous spending, forcing myself to use older items that are still usable just at a reduced capacity (think phones, tablets, furniture, ect), not really taken on new hobbies instead focusing on what I already have, and spending more of my money on local items (taking a forging class with my wife, 6 hours of entertainment and a knife to take home, for 400 dollars total). I picked up two year passes, one at the white water center and one at Carrowinds to give us something to do instead of driving around spending money. In theory, we live so close to Carrowinds, if we eat there twice a month it probably pays for itself.

My wife and I are maxing out our 401ks, backdoor Roth amounts as we can no longer take the regular IRA credit, investing our personal income in stocks, bonds, and have dipped our toes into private equity.

$1,500 and you haven’t spent a dollar on gate fees, eating out, a pair of cleats, a glove or a bat or batting gloves, gas to wherever you are going, etc.

So, as I said, more than two grand. Thanks for confirming. Maybe you don’t have any money because you’re an idiot about it

So you’re saving $75k+ a year and bitching about money? Some of you have to be fricking miserable all the time

I'm pretty sure you're the idiot, maybe you were too short to play any sports.

Do you believe that she needs a new bat, glove, cleats, etc for every season?

So add in gas, eating out, and the massive 10 bucks a weekend for gate fees. Sure it's over 2k but it isn't by much.

For the 8th time, I never said I didn't have money. I said we have stopped doing some things because the prices are insane, due to inflation, which was the purpose of the thread.

Same. I have a Toyota that I will drive until it literally falls apart or repairs surpass the value of keeping. Vehicle costs are ludicrous and I’m happy mine is paid for.

Usually much more profit in used vehicles.

Cleats, yes, unless your kids don’t grow. Glove and bat, every year no, but likely every other year as they age up into a new age group and the equipment specifications change. Odd thing to try to lie about

Surely didn't. I said I feel like we don't do anything because we have cut back.

Instead of the 6k beach vacation we are going to the lake. Instead of eating out twice a week, we rarely go at all.

Never once said anything about being broke. We still save thousands a month, contribute to 401ks, pay down the house and student loan debt.

You truly are dense. I never admitted to anything because I've said the same thing all along. Never once did I say I was broke.

You're right though, you got me on travel ball, it may have run me about 2,200 instead of 2k
