Yes, it couldn't be because the largest party gathering in the country was going on in the state a month prior.

Or the fact that LA is one of the unhealthiest states in the country.

It's definitely because some dude on the internet said frick the gov't.

Not to mention most deaths are in Nola, where apparently we got an "A" rating on social distancing.

It seems like the number of people out and about is increasing on a daily basis. Traffic is still relatively light but not near what it was at the beginning of last week. Are we close to majority of people just saying screw it and no longer obeying the stay at home orders?

As well they should.

We have the media to thank for this and it is a good thing. They have hyped this shite up so much it has become white noise.

People are beginning to go outside and look up and realize the sky isn't falling.

No doubt this is a serious health issue for a VERY small percentage of the population in the USA. The rest of us have to get on with our lives.

I've been out once in 8 days to go to grocery.

Now that I work from home, I go out at least once a day. I'm not around a lot of people; I am being considerate, but I am going to continue to live life. I'm not a scared or obsequious sheep, though. I went on a 400 mile drive on Saturday, but I stayed in my car except to stop once for gas and I remained in state.

That said, I am actually at risk because I lost my spleen when I was seven in a car wreck. I'm not worried about me, but I do not want to be the one responsible for passing it to someone else. However, I have to find that balance. I will either walk around the block, or I will go get take-out/drive-thru. Be considerate, use your brain, and things should be OK.

I do think that Americans will eventually say "screw it"; I have a hard time believing that people will do this until August (new stats predict 82K "deaths" due to COVID-19 by August if we continue to social distance). If this will be an ongoing issue, then what's the point?

Most of us won't have jobs by June if this is still going on.

Just curious. What do you do for a living to support and feed your family that you have all this time (months) to sit locked up at home?

AUGUST?!

If you keep this situation going for that long, the unemployment will be fricking insane, like over 30% insane.

Hospitals won’t survive that long without performing elective surgeries.

Geez.

If, as it seems, many places are at the plateau and will start heading down, we may have passed the main threat to hospital capacity. If some geniuses want to play darwinian roulette for themselves and their loved ones by mingling early, that might not be a bad thing. There will be more peaks, but some people exposing themselves early might spread them out so none is high enough to put a big squeeze on the hospitals.
