It's fun but some folks base their whole personality on the shite they wear to their mardi gras balls

Everyone bases their personality on something, some people are workaholics, some people are alcoholics, and some are worried about what they wear to the balls.

We’re all different. Let people have their fun.

I was once a wholesaler for a fashionable, yet necessary product, and within the whole industry, sales were always skimpy from Thanksgiving through Mardi Gras.

I don't find it creepy. I just don't understand it at all.

Not my cup of tea.

Having traveled quite a bit internationally, I love the enthusiasm that ppl have for things that are culturally specific to them.

Mardi Gras is no exception. Ppl getting bothered by things other ppl love and enjoy is such a waste of the time given to them. I don't get that at all.

I don't need a million other frickers, increased crime, nonsense and gridlock to find those though.

I don't need all that nonsense anymore.

It reminds me of adults that love Disney. Creepy as frick or you’re an alcoholic looking for an excuse to drink with others.

I can understand being put off by the downside of Mardi Gras but if you can’t appreciate the unique culture, entertainment and the city’s collective spirit of Mardi Gras that’s on you. I fail to see how that’s creepy.

This is what I'm talking about. It like you morons can't possibly comprehend the thought of families lining the parade routes and having ZERO problems for the entirety of their lives.

It's sad really that so many baws think Mardi Gras(based on the only experience they've probably had), is standing 10 rows deep on Canal Street to catch beads and then hanging out on Bourbon Street.
I haven't done any of that in 25 years and somehow manage to enjoy the Mardi Gras experience.

Go to balls, boils, parties throughout the year with your krewes/float groups. Go to house parties and bounce from place to place eating and having a few drinks, going to watch a parade for a bit, socializing with family and friends that you might only see this time of the year.

It's all about how you do it and what you like and don't like. But don't think of your crappy trashy version as the only way Mardi Gras is done.

I know a lot of these kind of ppl, and while I don't share their sentiment, there is something for everyone and I'm glad disney is their thing and not mine.

I think so. I'm on foot and only about a 10 minute walk to Superior straight down St Charles.

lucky - I remember those days - I grew up off of Orleans on Endymion’s route (and could walk to Mid City when it was still on Canal)

Exactly, I love breakfast food but the most I can handle before 11 is a pastry maybe. When I see people on TV drag themselves from bed to table and start pouring orange juice it makes me kind of nauseous
