Anyone deal with LSU Legacy Scholarship?

My son will be starting LSU in Fall. My wife got her bachelors in nursing through LSU, as well as NP through LSU. They tell us that since she didn’t graduate from LSU main campus that our son is not eligible. She followed LSU (main campus) curriculum. Went 2 yrs LSU BR, 3 yrs LSUHSC in New Orleans. Both of her degrees are from LSU...how is it that he should not be a candidate for legacy scholarship?

Because she didn’t graduate from the main campus?

Did your kid not get TOPS?
If not smart enough to get tops might as well just go offshore

FKing needs that money for Aleva.

Yes...he got TOPS and another small scholarship, but we have given quite a bit to LSU and question why is he not eligible for a legacy scholarship? Any student who follows LSU’s Bachelors of Nursing, will not be considered an LSU graduate when it comes time for their children to be considered for a legacy scholarship. At least if they follow the path where they go 2 years at LSU campus in BR and then 3 yrs at LSU New Orleans.

I wish legacy would cover the out of state tuition portion, my wife and I have 3 degrees from the main campus...and live closer to LSU than our in state schools, but even with legacy I think the price is prohibitive.

If your wife is a NP I doubt you need the scholarship

It says here that the Legacy scholarship is only available to children of alumni or employees of the Flagship campus. LINK
So I guess they don’t count the LSUHSC as the flagship campus.
ETA: Sorry, it actually says "The scholarship will be a fixed amount, academic merit-based scholarship awarded to incoming, full-time, Louisiana resident freshman or transfer students whose parent(s) either graduated from, or are currently employed at, LSU’s flagship campus." not alumni.

Exactly. Not to come off as rude, but I don’t see what your argument is...you don’t meet the requirements of the scholarship.

His point is the Nursing Program does not allow you to graduate from main campus. You have to finish your degree in New Orleans.

I'ma side with the OP here. Nursing should be an exemption and qualify for the Scholarship.
I'd rather a LSU Nursing Grad send their kids to LSU than a fricking General Studies degree-having poon who drank his way through 4 yrs of philosophy and sociology classes.

Your wife is not an LSU alum, she's an LSU Health NOLA alum.

I would just think that LSU would place some value on a student who goes through the LSU nursing curriculum from start to finish and afford their kids the same scholarship opportunity they are giving someone else who graduated from LSU.

Competence is in short supply in BR

Probably by the terms of who is and who is not eligible for the scholarship.

You know somebody that was able to bear a philosophy class without drinking?
