At ma and pa's dealership, probably the same.
I think this is obviously not the case. To each his own, but don’t let 1 bad experience tarnish your outlook, and that goes for everything in life.

Almost all the cars at the Bham location are pretty rough. Lots of scratches and door dings. I fetched some dude to show me some cars and everyone of them was already sold. I asked why they didn't move them off the lot and he told me I should have scanned the barcode on the car so I didn't waste his time. Uh, WTF, so sorry to bother you. That place can get fricked, especially with so many better options around here.

You work for Carmax? This is exactly how they train the sales people (who usually have no expirence in the car business) and it is completely false. I sold used cars at new car stores long before going to work for Carmax and I can tell the inventory difference is night and day. Carmax buys off lease and rental vehicles by the truck load. They buy other dealers rejects consistently.

It seems like it really depends on the car. You can get a newer Malibu right near the price it should be but also a 10 year old Malibu will be about 7k higher than it should be. It seems like there are sweet spots for good no hassle deals there. They low balled my F-150 in trade but beat the dealer by $3k in trade on the Honda CRV.

Just calling it how I see it.

I did work there for 2 years. I understand exactly how they work and operate their business. Listen it's an easy process and a semi enjoyable experience for most customers but their product is not great at all. Can you find a great car and deal? Sure, just like anywhere else. At the end of the day is a car dealership just like any other.

I had a great experience. Bought a 2012 Genesis in 2015....19K. Awesome car.

CarMax is for lazy people, dumb people, people who don’t mind over paying for cars, and women.
It's the Saturn dealer model for used cars.

I tried trade in on a Chevy Silverado 4x4 with low miles, the bumper had a small ding they deducted for that saying it was needed to be replaced and other odd crap.
I laughed at the guy and he said the offer was good for 24 hours. Lol they were offering $15,000.
Crooks.
I sold it to a private buyer for BB value of around $21,000

Yes, 20 years ago. No BS which was very rare with car dealers back then.

No but I sold them one. Very easy, smooth transaction. Would do again.

I went to test drive a vehicle there years ago, and they didn’t seem to even make an attempt to get the cigarette smell out of the car. It was disgusting. I didn’t even drive it and left.
My brother lives in the Bham area and swears by Donohoo.
