Anybody work with the Brits?
My company had quite a few Brits among the mix. They tended to be high performers and very well liked by management. In fact many were managers.

My wife and laughed at this while in London a few yrs ago...it was late May early June and very warm. But guys were going to wear their sweater and ties and try their hardest to not sweat or show any discomfort. I live in FL and I was hot on that Tube ride a 4pm. Tube was packed and we just stared at the men ...who would not even flinch in fear of that amount of physical activity would create sweat ...im like...just take the sweater off!
Dont know how the dudes at Fortnum and Mason survive the summer

I worked with an engineer from Wales back in the day. He was a nice guy but a bit odd

Generally hard workers.
And generally bad teeth.
That's all I got.

Brits?
I deal with them quite a good bit in my area of work. I ask every one of them their favorite "Cockney" slang line. I get mixed responses. Some die laughing and will give you a good rhyme. Some are very perplexed as to why you would ever ask it and generally give you a kind of nicely disgruntled denial.

that's because they either embrace it or think being Cockney is trashy

Have colleagues in the UK, as well as some engineers I work with often who are employed by one of our vendors. Good people but certainly focused.
I always try to use "cheers" when getting off the phone with them, but they try to use "goodbye". It's like a politeness war.

They are definitely less outgoing and brash than us Americans, and sometimes too polite when they should take up for themselves.
My view is different. My boss is British and we have an office in England. Every Britt I work with is about as direct and non-bs as possible.

Yep... I think it's hilarious though. I love the Austin Powers bit with his dad when they speak "English English"

I attended manchester uni and studied Landscape and New Town Planning. We had to present our projects to various governmental entities. These were designs of parks, etc. and the brits would get up there with a 24"x36" presentation board with nothing but writing and maybe a graph. They really didn't want to engage with the audience but just turn their back and read out loud what they had written. We yanks (there were 6 of us from LSU) would have full color sketches and would try to describe our concepts and reasoning extemporaneously as the questions came. For our final project one yank was teamed up with 2 brits. My 2 brits and I argued over the design approach and presentation graphics so they told me to do the sketches, I'm not sure they could even sketch. When we presented they had their own "text" board and a separate "design" from mine. Of course the professors like my deign better....at least that's my story.
