WTF was that guy thinking at the end?

Had exactly double the second place person. She wagered everything and got it right so they were tied. Had he wagered 0 they tie and he wins $13,600 and gets to play again.

Instead he wagered $1 and missed it so he lost.

Basically he risked $14k and a chance to play again to try and win one more dollar?!

You phrased that in a form of a question, yet didn't need to.

Do they both advance if they tie or is there some kind of tiebreaker he didn't want to risk?

I'm pretty sure there is a tie breaker question if there's a tie between two people after final jeopardy.

ETA: But after thinking about it, yeah it does seem pretty nonsensical to wager $1.

If you wager $0, you're basically banking on the other person to get it wrong. Otherwise you go to the tie breaker.

If you're going to wager, you might as well use the the "go big or go home" mindset. You only get $2000 for 2nd and $1000 for 3rd.

There's not. Both players play the next day. Tiebreakers only happen in tournament play.

ETA: I'm wrong. Apparently they've adopted the tournament tiebreaker rules for regular play.

Was there a token hot chick?

I missed it today. I usually never miss it. Oh, and I post pics of the hot chicks.

Two down votes on an honest mistake about the rules and procedures of Jeopardy....

Sorry if I offended the nerds out there.

You've learned now not to get the nerds fired up.

Those downvotes are forever. They don't just go away.

Yeah I was shaking at my tv. Before I saw the end I thought the girl bet like 100 too much on the daily double where she couldn't catch the guy in FJ so I could see him getting confused. But for 14k you need to triple check that math.

Someone else said it right, if he was gonna bet anything bet everything but a dollar. Betting a dollar was a no win but possibility of losing everything deal

From their website:

There can only be one winner. This has long been the case in tournament play and was recently adapted into regular game play. A tie at the end of Final Jeopardy! sends the game into a tie-breaker clue.

World Heritage Sites was the category.

Something along the lines of the citadel of the Ho Dynasty in what is now this country was declared a WHS in 2011?

I'm like 99% sure there is no tiebreaker, they both would have "won".

Again he risked 14k plus a chance to continue his run to try and win a single dollar. I watch a lot of Jeopardy and don't know if I've ever seen a bigger blunder.

There was no hot chick today. However the winner had previously lost on the old Nickelodeon show get the picture. Dude was stupid for risking the 1$. Dumbass lives in Decatur though so it's not a surprise.

Yeah we watch every night as we all yelled out what the hell when we saw what he wagered. They both would have won 14k and gone on to tomorrow where it just would have been one new contestant.

If that has recently been changed it was still a terrible move, though not as bad obviously.
