Anybody use a kerosene space heater?

I live in an older, drafty house, and looking for something to provide spot heating. The kerosene heaters put out a lot of heat, but reading up on them they seem pretty maintenance intensive, not to mention a fire hazard.

I assume you don't have a heater in the house right? No fireplace either? I am sure you will be fine as long as you don't do anything stupid...

Central gas furnace, but it doesn't do the job on the coldest nights.

What about a propane heater? We use them at the camp when it is cold. Easy and clean.

Does it use the big propane tanks? I thought they were illegal indoors.

I've known people that have had good luck with Eden Pure heaters. They heat well and are supposedly safe

We did when I lived at home with parents in the 80's. It was a chore to maintain, mainly keeping the wick in good shape. Does leave a kerosene smell and can leave a soot stain on ceiling. Not to mention the cost of kerosene these days. FWIW
