I have a friend that does this, but the trees aren't as big where he works. He gets paid good money to do it

I cut pines (from ground level) at my parents' place, and no way would I trust a pine trunk that far up.

You don't want to risk a dull chain breaking. The way he has to hold the saw, a broken chain would do major damage to him.
