My time frame there was about 98-99. A checkpoint could have been setup on Taft and probably hundreds of dui's would have been handed out.
Also remember one of the only things open 24 hours at that time was whataburger. A lot of people would make the drive all the way from the strip to ambassador wasted for a burger.

There and Shoneys on the thruway. I got pulled over on McKinley after tearing it up one night at shanahans. I was going the wrong way down the one way. Cop told us to swap drivers and GTFH.

And waffle house - forgot about that. A quarter pounder with a side of cheese covered hash browns to soak up some alcohol.

Hell if I was to wasted to drive back, I'd just park at those rest stops that used to be right outside of Lafayette off of I10 and sleep it off in the car. Lucky I never got burned doing that.

If this is the one in New Orleans, I spent many nights there way back then.

Drinking at 18 lasted a little longer than that. They flip flopped a couple times as well. I turned 18 August 12th of 95

Anyone remember Poppa Q who used to BBQ at the Mazda dealership on weekend nights in the 80s?
Tha BBQ pit put out some good smelling stuff but it wasn't too sanitary. He had some really bad business cards that said he had the best ribs since Adam

I was a freshman at UL in 2008. If you were 18..you could drink at any bar on the strip. Usually we went to the pub for drinkin on lincoln and then walked to the keg. Our apartments were right behind the Jeep dealership. 2008 is the first year they were open. Great times

Of course - just tip your bartender well. Unless the ABC was doing undercover raids.

I think I knew a few people that lived either right there or next door... I was at Townhouse III on Gen. Gardner and knew a bunch of the people there and right around there. Really convenient to go partying and go to class(as rarely as I did back then)...

Yeah... The end of the world party at NiteCaps was awesome right before the law went into effect. All of us that were under 21 lined up drinks and shots across the bar and almost killed ourselves at 11:55. At midnight, they did some sort of clean up, made us wear wristbands or something...
