The rebel flag cheerleading uniforms back in the day were off the hook.

This school was begun when integration started as a white exclusive school so the kids did not have to integrate. I know nothing about that school other than the reason for its existence
Meh.. parents didn't want to send there kids 2 hours away on buses when they had schools right there in Central. In 82 CPS enrollment jumped probably 200 percent.

I started CP in '83 after my parents were worried about me being shipped across Baton Rouge due to busing. Had some great times at CP.

They've been the Mississippi state champs a number of times

I dont need you to believe me, and I will not go into details. Also, when you call someone ignorant try to use the right homophone.
To PacLSU, this was not widespread, there were teachers there that I still recall fondly. Principals and admin liked me, as I was a good student and was never in trouble. This was also a long time ago, everyone I ever knew there has to be gone by now.

are there bad apples in the CP community? of course, but I grew up with and know almost everyone who ever taught, principled, or went to CP. I know generations of families invested there. And I don't believe a word of your previous post. Give me a first name or a last name, hell a grade and a year, if what you say holds any truth at all

Understand that I don't want to share any of this with you since you have been openly hostile toward me. This post vaguely threatens to dox me (and my sister) and I dont want any of that to happen because:
1. I am not posting this with her knowledge.
2. With many posters here having attended CPS I can't know if any of you were involved.
I don't care if you believe me. Can't stress that enough. You have fond memories of the place, good for you. I don't.
Edit: I mean to say that I don't share KK's positive impression of the institution. I do have fond memories of friends, some teachers, and some memorable events.

Yes they were..As to the OP's question, as someone already stated with the formation of Centrals own school system not sure how long it will continue to operate. I have a friend who has kids there now and still continue to enjoy it. I know back in the day most kids that started there would go thru till graduation even when they could have gone to Central Middle and Central High just because they enjoyed where they were and the friends they had made.

I'm making no apologizes to someone slandering an institution's name without any substance behind their accusations. I can name endless dirty secrets about the school, none of which being on the level you have suggested.
...or they knew they were getting a better education

I recall CPS being heavily Baptist and very strict.

My sister and I were abused (not sexually) by teachers and students there when we were kids. Admin/teachers hid it from my parents. 1/10 stars. Would not recommend
I don't get how this went. Did you tell your parents and they didn't believe you? How was it hid? I am not saying you are being dishonest and I know you probably won't answer but I get what the Klark is saying about this statement being thrown out there without any details is sketchy.

Lots ok Central and Live Oak kids transfer there for sports, but they play in a small MPSA division...lots of travel...too much! Teachers not required to be certified. Better off at Central or Live Oak in my view, but avoid Zachary High...some of this is opinion, but test scores, rankings, etc are often public.

TL;DR - if the academics are still the same, I'd send my kids there.
'98 grad here. Transferred from a 5A public school to play baseball for Kyle Achord my JR and SR years. To say it was culture shock would be an understatement. The school was very strict, very religious and the kids that had been there since kindergarten certainly didn't know how to party like us public school kids.
I was unprepared academically and had A LOT of catching up to do. For instance, I took (and failed
) Algebra II my Jr year and the majority of the other kids in that class were Soph.'s. The other kids in my grade were already in calculus and Trig. classes. I was a B student in public school without ever having to study, so having to actually crack a book at home was foreign to me. I finally figured it out and got my act together for my Sr year and did fine.
I then went off to college with two friends that graduated from the same public school I had transferred from. I basically slept through my Fr. yr and made a 3.0 while they struggled. I believe this is because I had a better foundation and had been pushed harder at CP. So, academically, I don't think you're going to find much better. Then again, this was also 15yrs ago and I haven't stepped foot on that campus since graduation night, so things could have changed.
Overall, I think it was a good experience. I had the opportunity to travel and play a lot of baseball and to win back-to-back State Championships. I know I learned more about the game of baseball in two yrs of playing for Kyle Achord than I had in my previous ten combined.
