It's where all the whites living in the Northeast school district go.

Just seems like a waste of money unless you live north of there and can't go to central.

Do you happen to have any first-hand knowledge of the difference in education between CPS and the Central Community School system?

Sent 3 kids through there from K-12. Big thumbs up. I would not trade it for anything. They all have very fond memories and a great education.

From the other private school thread:

quote:

quote:
When I toured EHS, the middle school kids all had personal iPads. The High School kids all had laptops. Every classroom had a smart board and at least 6 computers in addition to their personal computers. Teachers taught using the smart boards, capabilities of which I had not known existed. Each kid has a login on their school website with an email account. Students and teachers communicated after hours this way. Assignments were posted online. Grades were accessible online as well as club information, homework, tests (both scores and copies of the tests). Some assignments and tests were taken online, at the students convenience either timed or open book.

All of that is pretty standard at private schools

So, I would expect this from Central Private.

I have kids in the Central Community Schools and I'm really impressed with their curriculum. I don't know a whole lot about CPS other than it's pretty much been reduced to people living north of Central who can't send their kids to Central Community Schools.

With the rise of the Central public schools, Central Private has lost some of it's reason for being.

Great school & faculty

Smaller setting and lower student-teacher ratio

Thanks, Jon. Have your kids been in the CCS since they started school or did they transfer in? Can you point to anything in particular about the curriculum that impresses you?

My sister and I were abused (not sexually) by teachers and students there when we were kids. Admin/teachers hid it from my parents. 1/10 stars. Would not recommend.

Academically I was well ahead of my public school counterparts when I transferred out. So, i guess there's that.

Went there from 3rd till graduation. Great school back at that time. I am not so sure about now. My kids are in Central Community Schools but with Common Core we looked into it. Very small teacher to pupil ratio. I heard they recently changed Principals which I have heard has made the school better.

Yes, they are known for baseball. I played on the '92 state championship baseball team.

Well that's a pretty significant statement. What kind of abuse are you talking about? How the heck did they hide it from your parents? Was it wide spread thing?

complete and utter bullshite. name the teacher/principle who abused you and your sister. just admit you were probably too ignorant to be at CP to begin with

This school was begun when integration started as a white exclusive school so the kids did not have to integrate. I know nothing about that school other than the reason for its existence. Based on that info alone, there is no way in hell I would send a child to that school.
