Had a old buddy from Jr high that kinda did that except he wasn't ever really in the "rat race" per se, we had lost touch for many years after HS but I think he hauled arse to undisclosed island after a stint in the military and now works as a dive master, not married no kids. Been there a long time now and seems content long term.

I check out his FB page with a certain degree of envy, but not totally. Actually helps put things in perspective as far as being married with kids and working but having a life of real substance.

Sailing La Vagabonde is another good one. Sailing Doodles has also had a great run as a sailing channel, Megan is the draw.

Supporting a wife and children for 18-25 years is a life full of real substance? Just lol

Gotta love the coping mechanisms sheep go through to feel good about thier self imposed slavery

I will say our society needs good little drones like you to keep things going, so keep up the good work man

This is probably Brazil. Aruba doesn't have this many people on the entire island.

Substance? Life is about experiences. And we all have different ones.

I'll never get married or have children because that sounds like an absolute deathtrap

On the contrary, there is nothing better than the love and adoration of a good woman. And children are absolutely a gift from God.

LOL, at whoever claimed that was Aruba.

You could have everyone from the hotels, Cruise ships, arubans on one beach and it wouldn't look 1/150th of that.

Good for you if you are happy I guess, but why do you care so much about what others want?

Its certainly your choice to not have a family and that's good for you, but that's certainly not natural as in true to nature so I don't know why you are hating on those that choose to live life naturally.

As to the OP, I know many people that have chosen the "good Life". If it makes them happy, good for them. But I think the people that are truly happy are those that work hard early, have a family, and retire as early as possible. Most of the people I know that "screw the rat race" will be working until they are dead, with barely two pennies to rub together, and anytime life throws them a curveball they are truly scrambling to get by. Good for them, but that's not the life I want.

Many of the people that "live the dream" are well into drugs and drinking, because frankly you have to be to live that life sometimes. Life is not easy, and without some savings to get over the rough times financially it is very stressful no matter how easy going you are. I've seen it over and over.

Kauai

Probably the only island I'd consider moving to.
