My parents didn't want me on meds while in high school or college, so I obliged. It's pretty scary how good of a student I could have been had I taken it then, but it all worked out.

Fricking this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This! I call BS.

Father of ADHD said it himself, "Fictitious Disease". But you just keep popping the pills.

You can tell who’s on adderall or vyvanse in this thread by some of the multi paragraph responses

How's it going? I wish Adderall worked for me. I got all of the crappy side effects and no real increase in focus (since I was so tired from not sleeping). Granted, I was also going through the worst year of my life at that time, so that didn't help.

I hate having to pay $300/mo when I'm fulfilling my deductible, but I feel so much better on Vyvanse than I do off.

I've been on adderall 30mg for about 2 years now and it has worked pretty well for me. Only real side effect I have experienced is losing a lot of weight. Doctor prescribed me to take it twice a day but usually taking it once a day works better for me.

Been taking some sort of dextroamphetamine or precursor to it since the late 90s. 70mg is the supposed max, but Im scripted 110mg of Vyvanse a day. I know it's permanatly screwed with my dopamine/norepinephrine levels. I wouldn't be as successful as I am though if I didn't take it all these years. But your tolerance will get to levels where you have to take steps to mitigate the downsides. Like I take a beta blocker BP med with it just to bring my heart rate and BP back down to normal levels. Then it's good to have something that will kill it completely if you need to sleep all of a sudden, or slowly bring you down off such high doses dependibg on each days situation. There's also things you can take that help slow the changes it will do to your brain over time, if you want to get into all that. It starts as a disorder, but over time, you gotta manage your long term plan of ingesting stims everyday, because otherwise you'll be in trouble. I'm probably a guinea pig of sorts since I don't know anyone else that takes as much as I do along with the other meds to mitigate the long term damage. But my heart likely will still crap out at 50. :)

2-fma is very similar and legal too.

Try out Modafinil. All of the upside with none of the downside.

I've yet to encounter an article listing any permanent changes to the brain on any of these ADD/ADHD meds.

This can easily be a conversation with my MIL...... pretty much sums it up. It’s one way in that she asks me how I’m doing and answers it with something and starts another ? Or comment before I can answer. It goes on......

I just take a 15mg non time released. It really just helps me get going in the mornings.

In college I was on wayyyy too much adderall and I hated it then. No personality, irritable and just a zombie.

I have never heard anyone say this. I have heard people question the number of people who are on these medications. Also, it is just flat out untrue that people cannot become better at focusing. It is very muscle-like. The more you practice it the better you get at it. The more you flip channels, surf on iphone, etc the worse you get at it.

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 40. Crazy. Its pretty apparent I had it my whole life, but I grew up before the craziness of diagnosing kids. I did well in school, but routinely failed behavior.

I am not on meds, although I debate it. But I managed to get this far without them (now 44), I am not sure i need them now.

That's what my Dr said. The first couple months taking it was bad arse. Working was like a hobby, working out was fun, and being social was easy. I quit taking it everyday because I felt like I was going to build a tolerance and really didn't want to have to up the dosage. I'm prescribed 2 10mg non time release a day. My last two months bottles are probably half full and I have another prescription I'll probably pick up this weekend,

Over the 5 years since I've been diagnosed, I've tried:

Focalin XR - OK, but expensive
Vyvanse - Great on focus, but completely lost short term memory
Evekeo - Didn't do much
Zenzedi - Best I've tried...but super expensive
Adderall - Similar to Zenzedi, but much cheaper. What I'm on now.
