The gnosticon blows minds.
Whole topics that go beyond anything in traditional Buddhism.

Not for the lazy or weak.minded.

I've been thinking about adding meditation to my shroom microdosing. Helpful thread.

Well, your characterization of worshiping Buddha was incorrect in respect of a large portion of the various strains of Buddhism, so that was ignorant and narrow minded. Then you hit us with the hell and brimstone stuff. Maybe you should spend a little more time educating yourself.

I cannot apologize more of that is your interpretation. I don't quite remember typing anything of damnation of the soul. Education is a process that all should take into serious consideration. Interesting use of your description of the strains of Buddhism. Conjures thoughts of disease.

This is exactly why I typed that if Buddha recognizes God, then no need to worship him. I can also play your game of rhetoric like this: self enlightenment is selfishness, putting self first before considering others, but I won't because it's not necessary here.

That's an interesting theory considering many of the ways to reaching enlightenment is by serving others.

Don't think of studying Buddhism as necessarily "worshipping" the Buddha. It's much more about self enlightenment.

Around 30, I explored other beliefs. A guy I worked with was Buddhist, and I just couldn't get into the details of it. Seemed strange. Organized Christianity seems Looney too, but I settled on historical teaching of Jesus. It is a big difference from Christianity.

Everyone could benefit some from Buddhist ideals. I like to read quotes and it's helped me a lot. I'll always be a dabbler though, never fully engaged.

Pay attention or google more. Buddhists have had to fight for their lives against Muslims. No religion is safe from the religion of peace.

It's bad When 1 religion can cause a religion of peace, to have to draw arms, and become violent.

You haven’t found the right church. Christianity done right is the most freeing experience ever known.
Read and listen to Tim Keller OP, and you’ll have no reason to follow Buddhism.

I explored Buddhism and other beliefs as well and settled on Jesus in the end after some research on the historical significance. C.S. Lewis has same great critical thinking on the matter.

My problem with the other religions was that it is all about “earning” your way to peace and ignoring the fact that becoming perfect inside is impossible. Everyone seems to have the same inherent need for “something more” and I found that Jesus is the only one that acknowledges our imperfections and this need but does not put it on our shoulders to get there, because we would all fall short.

That being said, I don’t see anything wrong with believing in the trinity and also following through with some of the meditation and kindness practices that stem from Buddhism.

SE Asia is loaded with Buddhist-Catholics, so, yeah, I can vouch for that.

I have studied buddhism - small "b" buddhism isn't really a religion, any more than Confucianism is, as normally practiced. It is much more of a spiritual philosophy than any article of faith. Big "B" Buddhism is closer to a religion. Big "B" Buddhism is the successor faith to Hinduism, much like Christianity is a sequel to Judaism, for lack of better terms.

Buddhism is more philosophical than religious. Buddha is not an object of worship. There is no worship of any deity in Buddhism, there is meditation.

I disagree. Jesus had a very simple message. Accept him, and show compassion to your neighbors. Organized church, paid pastors, etc were all added to extract money. The moment I realized this, I had a weight lifted off my spitural shoulders.
