The temple in Baton Rouge Is Tam Bao. It’s Vietnamese. Very welcoming to Americans, Friday meditation is popular. Lots of faiths checking in on Friday evenings.

No . I did though - but that’s a personal ethic .

The first thing about Buddhism is that there is a LOT of misinformation out there. 99% of it by practitioners. I don’t know squat . I read, I attend, I meditate. I listen. I talk to the monks and nuns. But You may know more than me . I’m hopeless - not the guy to ask stuff. Definitely not on the path to enlightenment lol.

Been reading a lot of Thich Nhat Hanh and listening to podcasts of his retreats. How did that man not win the Nobel Peace Prize?

Also listen to other podcasts like Secular Buddhism and other sermons from Zen Buddhists.

Anybody who thinks Buddha and Christ taught different things or their teachings were opposed to each other should read Hanh's book 'Living Buddha, Living Christ'.

Raised Catholic. Scripture doesn't connect with me.

Catholicism is the oddest of the Biblical preaching religions. Been to a handful of Catholic churches mostly for girls I dated in the past. They were always rigid and spent most of the time on things other than preaching.

I'm a Christian and have attended non denominational Bible Churches. If you feel there is a creator out there, and Catholic churches are your only experience into church, maybe try a Bible church. If not, enjoy your buddhism.

What's a most interesting fact in life is that we have all been created by God, all of us, with a spirit of worship built inside of us. It's who or what we choose to worship...

Money
Power
Greed
Lust
Individual parts of the whole, like peace, patience, goodness, mercy, love, etc.
Self

The list of options is endless. God is great; is a true shame more won't recognize Him.

That said, if it is as you say that Buddha doesn't deny God, then worship Him. There's no reason for the Buddha interference. And remember if there is evil and the evil one, he has power to persuade.

Right here. I spent a bunch of time in Thailand and learned a lot about it. The more I learned, it changed who I was for all the right reasons in all the right ways.

I love it.

Visit any Buddhist country and you’ll see zero fat monks.

Visit any Christian church in the Southern US, and you’ll see 3 out of every 4 people morbidly obese.

Why are so many “devout Christians” so ignorant and narrow minded?

The Catholic God is such a jealous God sheesh.

Don't think of studying Buddhism as necessarily "worshipping" the Buddha. It's much more about self enlightenment.

The concept of worship is just odd when you really think about it.

What's the purpose? Is it fear; worship or else...?

Gratitude? Worship doesn't feel like love to me.

In my admitted limited knowledge (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Unlike Catholicism and Islam, the Eastern religions focus more on meditation than worship per se.
