Anybody have kids that play in CAYL(Central Area Youth League)?

Just wondering where all the money goes 
It's $60 per kid to register, then they ask that each team turn in a sponsor fee of $400. 100% of the sponsor fee goes to CAYL, parents are on hook for uniforms and equipment. The park is BREC so I'd imagine upkeep and maintenance are provided by tax payers. The umps are high school kids getting like 20 bucks a game. Theres a shite load of teams and a shite load of kids, just trying to figure out where all the money goes.

couple hundred bucks a year all in for your kid to play ball? I don't think that's unreasonable. That facility is pretty large and it's been kept in good shape for years.

A friend went down this road in another parish and uncovered some blatant BS. Funding of AAU teams with league money etc, just tip of iceberg, very shady stuff going on. Didn't matter though, all about who you know. Tough to go up against a city councilman whose brother is a parish councilman and father is a judge...

I played CAYL in the late 90s and was a god due to the shitty competition. Fun times.
