I like this one

You live in the best time ever to be born and are richer, healthier, and more educated than billions who died before you. You live in the most powerful nation the world has ever known. You have a family and a job, both of which you got to choose. It is a myth that you are supposed to be euphoric at all times. Revel in what you have, which is substantial.
This is both a good and a bad thing psychologically.
The bad part is for the first time in history the majority of us (Americans at least) have all of our basic needs met.Humans throughout history spent the majority of everyday thinking about surviving. For the most part we don't have to do that anymore.
It leads to apathy like the OP is experiencing. I always find it interesting that most poverty stricken people I see around the world seem generally happy and don't seem to go through this. My very uneducated theory is that they still have that survival instinct, and when they meet those needs on a daily basis they enjoy their family and free time. I don't think most Americans do that.

I have heard a lot of interviews with famous people back in the day that they grew up poor but they did not know they are poor.
Now our culture and most of our exonomy is built about reminding people what they DO NOT HAVE and social media and entertainment are always there to remind you that you know you have less than others.
It’s a big part of our modern malaise

I feel like it’s temporary, and it usually is. But I just don’t have the desire to go to work. I’m not too excited about anything, LSU football, Spurs basketball, etc.
Miss TexasTiger has been working 12 hour days. She has this problem where she kind of likes her job.
I’m not sure why I’m excited to get home, maybe because I can take a nap or something. Lately I find that I enjoy working in the yard, cleaning up the property day by day, etc.
Maybe this is just sports-related apathy. I’m not sure. I’m not sad, or depressed. Just...blah. Anybody else ever go through these stretches?
Stop eating garbage.
Stop looking at so much porn.
Go to the gym. Eat better. Set small goals to improve yourself physically. Set small goals to improve yourself psychologically. Work to achieve those goals. You have nothing to look forward to because you have no more goals.

I don’t feel self destructive, or sad...just that I don’t care. I get a yearly salary regardless of how great or bad I am at my job. It’s like the movie Office Space.
Take a week off, go it West, find a park and disconnect for a while. Do something dangerous

I don’t look at a tremendous amount of porn...so that’s not it.

Medicines probably don't help. I got off seroquel once because it made me feel like a zombie

I do this quite often. My problem is when I return from my escape from reality it makes me dread it even more.

Why would you give a shite about a football team that's been on a decade long losing streak?
And you like basketball? Have you spent time in prison?

Understandable, I realized that life was trying to tell me something. If life is boring or dreadful, it's time for a change.

Anyway you can change professions?

Classic recipe for apathy.
Most people are bored with life because they're living to the expectations of others and have no passion. Trying to "better" themselves based on other people's expectations aren't going to help

Getting a totally new job would require me to go back to school or start from the bottom with a company.
I could switch schools, or cities if I wanted a much bigger change.
I feel like a cross between Peter in Office Space and Jerry Maguire.

Bettering oneself is never a bad thing. Working on your health isn't something done to meet other's expectations, it's something done because it universally makes people feel better.

The working out thing is good for energy levels I have found. But this idea that I have to look cut, swoll, trim, etc is laughable. If that’s what someone else wants to do, then great. I’d rather not be inside of a gym. If I do some physical activity, I’d rather it be on a basketball court outside or with my dogs.

There's nothing wrong with that. You're not guaranteed a future where you are and obviously it's not fulfilling

Yeah the health aspect is important but the "swole" factor is superficial and leads to more anxiety.
I go hiking or do moderate climbing and it helps.
