Is it time to switch to "Summer" blend?

It's still legal to sell winter grade at the moment, but most blenders/refiners are beginning their process of changing grades to summer.

People buy these 80k giant trucks to pull their bay boat 5-6 times a year. Could have a nice sedan and just get an used truck to pull the boat. Then price of gas wouldn't even be an issue

I wonder how much or if Mardi Gras will play into the prices between BR NOLA and Hammond over the next week.

More of an influence would be the refinery outages right now, turnaround season in baw talk.

Also a couple key gasoline producers, in the region, are cut back due to unplanned outages.

Isn’t it about time for another “event” to push up prices?

I’m honestly ready for the hordes of poors driving around aimlessly in their financed monster trucks and cavaliers to get off the road.

Summer blend gasoline is being distributed in warmer climate areas of the country.

It costs about 10% (+/-) more than winter blend.

I bet my wife and I spend less than $100 per month on gas combined at these prices. And I drive a full sized truck.

Twice every year in the United States, the fuel supply changes. It's known as the seasonal gasoline transition.

This change is the biggest reason for the price hike in summer gasoline. Depending on the time of year, gas stations switch between providing summer-grade fuel and winter-grade fuel.

The switch started in 1995 as part of the Reformulated Gasoline Program (RFG), which was established through the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) started the RFG program in order to reduce pollution and smog during the summer ozone season, which occurs from June 1 to Sept. 15 [Source: EPA].

It starts before then really, but I'm asking when it happened this year.

As far as I know the RVP is still at 'winter' levels. Which is a joke anyway.

Maybe he should take it to 2014-15 levels just like Obama.

Where the poster lives who started this thread, it started today.

Although the gas station operator may have been told his next shipment will be summer-grade gas so in order to build up funds to pay for the more expensive grade when it comes in, the station operator upped his prices now using the ever popular "marginal cost of goods" pricing model.
