To be honest, I never noticed anything more than a convenience store in Baskin. I did a Google image search for it and got mostly pictures of Winnsboro.

Baskin holds the dubious distinction of being the town in Louisiana which derives the most revenue from traffic fines and forfeitures, according to the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. Traffic fines and forfeitures account for 84% of the town's budget.[3]

Vinton must be up there too.

Does a bear shite in the woods? Who in their teens or young 20's commuting from br to Shreveport hasn't gotten a ticket around mansfield. Contact DA, try to write a letter to reduce to non-moving violation, if not at least to keep ticket off your record.

With speed limit 75 on I-49 now, little excuse to need to travel 85... So I don't know if that changes any leniency that I had 15 years ago. I grew up though and drive near the speed limit or less than 5 over

Rodney Arbuckle has always run a good department. He has been sheriff since he was like 28 years old and is now 51-52. He was youngest sheriff in the USA for a while.

Yeah I know him. He's a cop but a decent guy. Don't break the law and his guys won't get ya. The state troopers in the Caddo/DeSoto area will mess with ya though. I live in the area so they won't mess with me much, especially since my family roots go back at least 150 years I know of off top of my head in the parish.

And that's one of the main reasons why I moved out of Louisiana.

so you moved out of Louisiana because of shady shite that happens in Texas. That makes a lot od sense.

Rodney Arbuckle is a damn good man. I am able and willing to vouch for very few people especially politicians/cops (I'd consider elective sheriffs a bit of both), but he's a man of integrity and someone I have complete faith in. He cares about his community and is a very selfless man. If EBR had a man like him we'd be much better off.

Same family. He used to live just a little north of Judge's Handee Mart growing up. Probably drank a few gallons of Icee's from the store. LOL He still lived in Logansport until it got to be too much with parish seat and main sheriff office located the 17 miles away in Mansfield.

ETA: I've known him since we were little kids, probably around 6 years old or so.

Close to what mine was. I was going 80 in a 70 there (years ago). I'm always very nice to cops and this guy was a serious a-hole to me

The only a-hole cop I've ever actually had to deal with.

Ha. Well, according to my ticket there is a beauty shop somewhere there to. I guessed I missed it as I flew by at the high speed of 61.

Most, not all, police departments give you up to 10% over the speed limit. After that, you're putting yourself in jeopardy.

Got one in Desoto about 10yrs ago coming home from Dallas. I don't remember how much it was. They changed it to a non-moving violation ticket but the fine was still the same. I think it was close to $200.

Nah....DeSoto Parish has always been hell on speeders with high fines even before the Haynesville Shale.

And I believe the bulk of the money does to the District Attorney's Office, the Court, and the IDB not the sheriff's office

If Louisiana is like Texas (and it probably is, in this regard), the state government gets about 60 percent of all traffic fine revenue. The remaining 40 is what's up for grabs.

It's not.

I believe the state doesn't get anything and the parish or municipality keeps everything.

The parishes even keep all the money from tickets written by state police.

They ended up winning the southwest regional in Alexander and then won the big league World Series in Delaware. Only Louisiana team boys or girls to accomplish that. Took most of the sting out of my two tickets in one week. Haha. It took me 3 years to get my record clean and get decent rates on auto insurance.
