I don’t drink alcohol at all. Never did. Not even once.

The only thing that irks me about it is when I tell people that I don’t drink, about 70% of them assume I’m a recovering alcoholic. They give me a knowing “ohhhhh.” Can’t stand that.

So I always have to qualify it with: I don’t drink. Never have.

I was a big drinker until I got diagnosed with this diverticulitis bullshite. I've cut down immensely and I feel great because of it.

I basically quit drinking about 15 years ago.Got up for work with a horrible hangover and said never again.

I'll have a Beer an a Burger occasionally.A glass of wine at family gatherings.

I have less than 10 drinks a year.

By OT standards,I guess that may make me a "Teetotaler".

I did meet Bullfrog and his Wife, for lunch, when they were passing thru Alabama.I had 2 Beers. It was cause for celebration.

I will agree that great stories don't start with,"I was completely sober".But,I've got enough stories.

Here...

After decades of drinking, alcohol started fricking up my sleep. So I quit. No regrets, but dry livin' in NOLA is kind of strange.

I stopped in my 30's. Hangovers got too rough and it really isn't that much fun being intoxicated. I have plenty of fun without all that and don't make a jackass out of myself. If I am at a drinking event, I go get a water with a twist of lime. Nobody knows so I don't get pressured into drinking.

Drunk people are not as clever or attractive as they think they are.

Well, what makes it fun is they don't really care how clever or attractive they are when they're drunk. It's a very effective inhibition killer.

I know this. Not being judgmental. I'm sure if you think back on your drinking days, you can (maybe) remember some cringeworthy things you said or did. I included myself in that statement.

Yeah it sucks and I'm rather young. I have to have robotic colon resection done April 25th.

Well, you take pleasure in sucking other men’s dicks so pardon me if I put little stock in how you feel.

The entire point of this thread is about people not drinking. It's not like we busted up in the Steamboat thread announcing to the world that we don't drink and why. Then, you may have a point.

Absolutely.

But I can't really say I'm sorry I went through it. Totally changed the trajectory of my life.

A huge part of recovery is uncovering shite that you long held secret. What you see as "boasting" is simply people who have overcome something against great odds desperately trying to build a wall between who they are and what they once were.

Show me the social media posts where dudes brag about how long ago they canceled their pay to play snapchats(I just recently found out this is a thing) and Girls on Webcam accounts.

Compare that to boast posts a about being sober. You can add up all the recovering drug addicts' posts to equal the recovering alcoholics' posts.

It's just an observation. They like to tell us about it.

I paid for sex once(directly. We all pay indirectly). Juarez 1999. $27 + $3 tip. Was awesome.

My kids' orthodontist was on Ashley Madison list. There's that.

Wait. I called phone sex in summer of 1997. That counts.

That's terribly embarrassing. No wonder they are afraid to admit it.

Now I did have a strong addiction to picking up chicks at a time unfortunately when I was married, but I've also talked about that quite a bit.

I gave up alcohol for Lent again this year too. It's amazing how easy it is. I never think about it. When it's not Lent, I think about it frequently and drink about five days per week.
