I'm not trying to drum up any sympathy I'm just curious how your recovery went.
I'm also here to heap praise upon Our Lady of the Lake Hospital's coronary and vascular unit, its nursing staff, and the great team of cardiologists and specialists aligned with the hospital.
Great job by everybody!

maybe i dont count, but my dad had it done almost 7 years ago (he is 60 now)....healthier now than he has ever been and it hasnt slowed him down a bit
took him about 3 months to where he was back to "normal", but he has really taken care of himself since then
best wishes to you and your recovery

Thank you for the well wishes, and good to hear about your dad.
I just turned 60, and instead of feeling sorry for myself I'm thinking that it was better to get it out of the way now than in my 70's. Your dad probably feels the same.
And I'm also here to send a warning to everybody out there...
I've always eaten well, I exercised, I took care of my body and my mind, I've never been overweight, I've never smoked, I've never been diabetic, I've never had any other major disease... and yet I needed four bypasses.
Biology is unpredictable. You might THINK you're healthy but you REALLY need to get yourself checked out. Heart attacks can come without warning.

nvmd, saw you're 60.
My co-worker had it and said the biggest thing with his recovery is he just didn't have stamina to stay awake much and would be just sleepy a lot. It eventually got better after a few months and he's doing well now.

Can't beat your genetics. Some people's body could turn a piece of lettuce into cholesterol.
How'd you find out? Regular checkup or did you have symptoms?

So that's why you were missing for a bit from the poli board
Maybe wiki's bypass didn't go as well

I'm 60.
Yes, I've been sleeping a lot over the past eight weeks. The body needs a lot of energy to heal the giant gash in your chest and sternum.

Yep, I had a triple in 2007 at the age of 47...can't beat genetics! Mine was also at the Lake in BR. Super staff!! Best advice, walk as much as possible and work that damn breathing machine!!! It is a PITA but it helps, big time!

The Lake's new cardiology building is ultra-first class... a beautiful facility.

My pops' doctor caught something he didn't like on some basic stress tests about ten years ago. After a cardiac catheterization, they decided on a quadruple, then added another during the surgery. Best of luck with the recovery.

I hope I never see it, first time wasn't bad but that doesn't mean I want to go through it again! Just saw you are eight weeks post op, you should be out and about and driving now!

The survival rate for bypass surgery is extremely high, if there are few co-existing condition, like 85-90%. So you'll do fine, may need drastically change your lifestyle to avoid future complications.
