Heard its doesn't work in high humidity area but that it does make a room cooler by 15-25 degrees. But most research I do have testimonial for western states instead of eastern.

Edit: Looking at one of these.

I can remember working on office buildings downtown in N.O. and they had those massive water towers, mostly constructed out of wood that had a constant stream of water flowing over the slats along the sides to help cool the building.

Yeah, I'm that old.

Correct. They don't work well at all in humid climates. It's basically just a fan that spits on you when it's humid.

Far too humid in the Deep South for those to be optimal. They will drop the temperature as few degrees, but it is not worth 100% relative humidity air.

Those “massive water towers” are called cooling towers. They are part of most large HVAC systems. Evaporative cooling will drop 95 degree water to 85. The chillers condenser side of the refrigeration rejects heat into the water loop connected to the cooling tower.

Just get a window unit...

It’s cheaper.

Confusing evaporative cooler with misting cooler. I have evaporative coolers and they work wonderfully. Use ice water.

the can only cool if the water dries up quickly, otherwise its just a fan and thats all they do is blow air.

same thing for those "cool" towels, they dont work here but in dryer less humid areas they actually do stay cool
