We are moving equipment and men from all over the country to midland and can't get them there fast enough

You aren't in drilling though. West Texas has come to almost a complete stop for us

Their rig count is down around 65% from a year ago. I know one person from there who is working in construction now. He hasn't found anything in the O&G industry.

I figured a lot of the hands from East TX and Lafayette would just end up in Lake Charles working on all of the LNG expansion projects going on here.

That's why I suggested workover. Workover and completions usually pick up when drilling declines.

They punched a lot of holes last year that yall are completing now. My BIL does completions and they are busy as shite right now

I worked in the South Texas district, mostly Eagleford work, in the Cementing PSL. They've had two rounds of layoffs before this one that included Engineers a few months ago. This one, the third round was the biggest. Not only did Cement Engineers get hit, but so did Frac and Completion Tools Engineers. Probably a total of 20-30 when you include all Engineering departments. Crazy..

That's a lot. We haven't been hit in the gulf really. At least not yet. We have a huge amount of work that is scheduled for late 3rd quarter tho. I'm expecting more layoffs after that if things don't begin to pick up.

There's definitely more layoffs coming. I let two of my guys go Friday.

My relative got let go from Halliburton a few years back.
He came to me to borrow money to start consulting in oil field in environmental side of it.
The environmental side exploding and I got my money back plus interest in 6 months.
The gas side slow but environmental hot. I think he looking for guys to work contract and they make good money. No benefits as a contract employee but got a job making good money.

Yea Halliburton over hired here in South Texas when the Eagleford boom happened in all PSLs for Engineers. Unfortunately, we are now seeing the effects of this due to mass layoffs.

We are balls to the wall right now in DW GOM. That being said our biggest contract is coming up for tinder in Jan and if we loose it there will be big cuts, myself most likely included.

Where are most of the layoffs coming from? Upstream? I ask because I work in downstream
