I haven't heard of anything from China, but I know they're getting pipe from Korea and modules from Mexico.

Love Lake Charles. Growing, not much traffic, lots of fishing, shrimping, crabbing, hunting etc. Close enough to IAH to get anywhere at anytime. Good for raising families, not the best for late 20's -mid 30's , but it is getting better.

This

Went to college there in the 80s. Always came home for the weekends and lsu games. The city used to have a lot of really old beautiful trees. But hurricane rita leveled the place. Looks like shite now. Hope this helps. Lol

You ever eat at Holliers in Sulphur?

Holliers sucks. 2nd worst "restaurant" in this area behind Cracker Barrell.

With that said, obviously django is a dipshit and knows nothing about that the frick he's talking about.

All of the structures I've worked on were JIS (Japanese) shapes coming out of Korea.

It hasn't even started yet and the traffic is awful (for lake charles, and it's only going to get worse.)

I know one of the units going up will have Asian equipment vendors; steel included.

They have to meet all of the US specs, though,,

Not only is the Sasol project going up, theres also:

LNG Sabine Pass
LNG Ship Channel Terminal
Axiall, west of 210 interchange

Holy shite the amount of people thats going to be here within the next 3 years or so.

Turner is hiring 4,000 people in the next 3 months alone. They will have bus terminals in Lafayette, Alexandria, and Beaumont for out of town workers to help ease the traffic and parking issues that will be everywhere.

That's just the beginning.

I'm not even sure the CB&I plans and needed manpower for the ship channel terminals.

That and a stated commitment to using local shops. I'd like to know more about this purported using Chinese Fabricated steel.

Lived in LC for 16 years when I was young. It was a great place to grow up.

I love that it's close to everything. 2 hours to Houston, 30 minutes from gulf, 2 hours from LSU.

You could do much worse. Up and coming city with lots of new restaurants and some really nice neighborhoods.

Lake Charles is just big enough for me, Dallas is too fricking big and Houston is too "ethnic"

That being said, all my childhood friends now work in the plants as operators and they can't shut up about LNG and Sasol expanding. Even Westlake is losing real estate to build shite. People are escaping to Carlyss and Ragley at a quick clip. Even Cameron is showing an incline of popularity. Housing market in Westlake right now is fricking nuts. Two of my friends just sold their houses in the new golf course area of Westlake for $143 a SQ/ft and 131 a SQ/ft.
